Do you want to work with mechanical design where no day is like the other? On behalf of Columbia Elektronik, we are now looking for a mechanical designer for a consulting assignment starting in August. The assignment initially runs for six months with very good opportunities for both extension and transition to employment at Columbia Elektronik.
Here you will work with customer-specific products, combine design with practical problem-solving, and become part of a family-oriented technology company where ideas, collaboration, and short decision-making paths are in focus.
About the company
Columbia Elektronik develops and manufactures customer-specific test fixtures and test equipment for the electronics industry. Every solution is unique and is developed based on the customer's specific needs, which means the work is characterized by variation, problem-solving, and technical creativity.
The company has approximately 20 employees in Sweden and a subsidiary in Denmark. At the facility in Krokek, designers, production staff, CNC operators, and electricians work closely together, creating short decision-making paths and close collaboration throughout the entire development process.
At Columbia Elektronik, you become part of a flat organization where everyone helps each other and where your competence has a direct impact on the business.
About the role
This is a consulting assignment via MultiMind starting in August. The assignment is initially six months long, but Columbia Elektronik has a long-term recruitment need. Therefore, for the right person, there are very good opportunities for both extension and transition to a permanent position.
This is a role for you who want to work with mechanical design in a varied environment where every project involves new technical challenges. You will develop customer-specific test fixtures and solutions for the electronics industry, from the first requirement specification to the finished product.
The work combines design, customer dialogue, and close collaboration with production. You will work in several parallel projects where each assignment normally lasts between one and five days. The role suits you who appreciate variation, like solving technical problems, and enjoy seeing your designs become reality.
At Columbia Elektronik, we are not looking for the person with the most certifications. Instead, we are looking for a technically curious and practical problem solver who likes to find smart solutions and understands how design and production are connected.
The role includes:
- Designing customer-specific test fixtures and mechanical solutions
- Working with mechanical design and product development in 3D CAD
- Reviewing requirement specifications together with customers
- Developing technical solution proposals and test specifications
- Driving own projects from start to delivery
- Collaborating closely with production to ensure manufacturable solutions
- Participating in improvement work and development of products and working methods
- Having ongoing technical dialogue with customers, mainly via Teams
About you
You are an independent mechanical designer who enjoys working practically and solution-oriented. You are motivated by solving new technical challenges and find it easy to switch between several projects simultaneously.
You have a good understanding of how products are manufactured and appreciate working close to production. At the same time, you feel comfortable in technical dialogues with customers and can translate their needs into well-thought-out design solutions.
We believe that you:
- Have several years of experience in mechanical design
- Have good experience with 3D CAD, for example SolidWorks or a similar system
- Have an understanding of production and manufacturing processes
- Are used to working independently and quickly getting into new projects
- Have experience in technical customer contact
- Communicate fluently in Swedish and English
It is meritorious if you have experience with:
- Design of fixtures or production equipment
- Electronics or the manufacturing industry
- Prototypes and small series
- Design in aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, phenolic materials, or other sheet materials
We believe you will thrive if you:
- Like solving new technical problems every week
- Want to work close to both customers and production
- Like taking own responsibility and driving projects forward
- Thrive in a smaller organization where decision-making paths are short
- Are flat-hierarchy, curious, and enjoy collaborating
At Columbia Elektronik, we value people who are practical, technically curious, and solution-oriented. Here, designers who see opportunities, find smart solutions, and like to work close to both customers and production to create the best possible results are appreciated.
The work is mainly located in Krokek/Kolmården. Travel occurs very rarely, and customer meetings take place primarily digitally via Teams.
Interested?
If you are ready for the next step in your career and want to work in a role where you get to combine mechanical design, problem-solving, and customer contact, we would love to hear from you.
Selection and interviews take place continuously. Since the assignment has start in August, we recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you!
