Description

As an employee in Gislaved Municipality, you are a co-creator at your workplace. You are given the opportunity and expected to contribute to the development of the operations through your knowledge and experience. Here, respect for differences and the equal value of all people are fundamental.

Do you want to make a real difference to the mental, physical, social, and sexual health of young people?

We are looking for an engaged counselor for the Youth Clinic in Gislaved. Here, you will have a meaningful and varied job where you meet young people and young adults during an important period of their lives. You will become part of an interdisciplinary team together with midwives from Region Jönköping County and work to create an accessible, safe, and inclusive operation where young people receive support based on their needs.

The Unit for Prevention and Interventions, Children and Families consists of 23 dedicated employees with broad competence and a common focus on the best interests of children and young people. We work both preventively and with outpatient interventions. The operation includes counselors at the family center, parental support counselors, a counselor at the youth clinic, therapists at Young Individual, SSPF coordinators, a school social team, and ten family therapists who work with needs-assessed interventions for children and young people.

The Youth Clinic is a low-threshold operation for young people between 13 and 22 years old. We work health-promoting, preventive, and therapeutic with a focus on physical, mental, social, sexual, and reproductive health. Collaboration with schools, school health services, social services, and healthcare is a natural part of our work. Here, you have the opportunity to contribute to the development of an operation that strengthens the health and future of young people.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor, you are responsible for the psychosocial work at the youth clinic. You offer advice, support, and therapeutic conversations to young people and young adults regarding issues concerning mental health, relationships, identity, sexuality, stress, anxiety, depression, self-destructive behaviors, pregnancy, and other life challenges.

You will, among other things:

  • offer advice, support, and treatment conversations
  • assess and work with psychosocial problems
  • strengthen young people's own resources and abilities
  • collaborate with midwives and contribute psychosocial competence to the team
  • work outwardly through school visits, class information, and theme days
  • collaborate with schools, school health services, social services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), primary care, and other actors
  • contribute to the operation's development and quality work
  • participate in health-promoting and preventive interventions

The work is varied and gives you the opportunity to combine individual conversations with preventive work at the group and societal level.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a social worker, behavioral scientist, or have other education that the employer considers equivalent.

We would like you to have experience working with young people within social services, school health services, healthcare, or similar operations.

It is meritorious if you have education or experience within:

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • sexology
  • LGBTQI+ issues
  • mental health in children and young people
  • suicide prevention
  • work at a youth clinic, school health service, or within social services

A Category B driver's license is required.

You are confident in your professional role, work independently and systematically, and are good at building trusting relationships. You enjoy working in a team, are development-oriented, and want to be involved in developing the youth clinic's operations.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

We Offer

Here, you get:

  • a meaningful and developing job where you make a difference every day
  • the opportunity to develop the youth clinic of the future
  • close interdisciplinary collaboration with midwives from Region Jönköping County
  • dedicated colleagues, external supervision, and good development opportunities
  • paid vacation from the first year of employment
  • certain possibilities for remote work
  • free entry to the municipality's swimming pools

Your work is characterized by cooperation, responsibility, and good treatment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and that your view of employment matches ours.

We apply register control (extract from the criminal record) as part of the suitability assessment for all who are offered employment in operations where there is direct and regular contact with children and young people.
