The position is located at the Faculty of Medicine. The specific department placement will be decided upon appointment. Premises, other infrastructure, and resources for the position are financed according to the Faculty's standard model.

The position will be combined with employment as a Specialist Physician/Attending Physician. Since the subject is defined as medical research, there is no specific need to fill a particular slot. The purpose of the appointment is to recruit internationally competitive researchers with documented ability to conduct high-quality independent research and with clear potential to develop into future leaders within academia.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities primarily include independent research and development work, as well as supervision of master's and doctoral students. Teaching at the undergraduate level, leadership, and administration are also part of the role. Other duties may also occur.

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a Lecturer according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, Section 4, the candidate must have demonstrated pedagogical skill and hold a PhD degree or equivalent scientific competence, or possess other professional skills significant in view of the subject matter and duties of the position.

The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least five weeks or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, unless there are special reasons. The employee must then complete higher education pedagogical training during the first two years of employment to meet this requirement.

Since the position of University Lecturer is combined with employment as a specialist-trained physician, the applicant must hold a specialist certificate and possess the Swedish language skills necessary for the medical profession as defined by the National Board of Health and Welfare upon taking up the clinical post (Swedish language skills, at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale, which also accepts equivalent knowledge in Norwegian or Danish).

Evaluation Criteria

The applicant must have demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skill of significance to the subject. In the assessment, particular weight will be given to scientific skill. The applicant must have demonstrated scientific skill by maintaining a good national and international level as a researcher and having well-documented scientific competence. The applicant must be a PhD holder within a subject area relevant to the position.

Scientific skill must be documented through an independent research profile that has left an international mark. This means that the applicant has established their own research line distinct from previous supervisors or research environments, has ongoing grants obtained competitively as principal investigator, has experience of a postdoc period carried out in a different environment than where the applicant obtained their PhD, and has publications in journals with a peer-review system. Special consideration is given to publications where the applicant is a senior author.

Weight will also be placed on pedagogical skill and the ability to supervise master's students and doctoral candidates. Pedagogical skill must be demonstrated both in teaching and in supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels.

Attention will also be paid to demonstrated leadership ability, teamwork skills, clinical competence, and the ability to interact with the surrounding society. Regarding clinical competence, experience of independent work within healthcare is required, where the applicant has current clinical activity.

In the appointment, the scientific development potential will be emphasized particularly. This includes the ability to build and lead competitive research environments in the long term. The applicant's research profile should further have the potential to strengthen the Faculty's international impact and contribute to the development of excellent research environments. Special weight will be given to the applicant's potential to develop into a future professor, including the ability to build and lead a competitive research environment in the long term.
