The positions are located at the Faculty of Medicine. The specific department placement will be decided in connection with the appointment. Premises, other infrastructure, and resources for the appointment are financed according to the Faculty's standard model.

The positions cannot be renegotiated into a combined appointment. Since the subject is defined as medical research, there is no specific need to fill a particular role. The purpose of the appointments is to recruit internationally competitive researchers with documented ability to conduct high-quality independent research and with clear potential to develop into future leaders within the academy.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities primarily include independent research and development work, as well as supervision of master's and doctoral students, but also teaching at the undergraduate level, leadership, and administration. Other duties may also occur.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a Senior Lecturer according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, Section 4 is one who has demonstrated pedagogical skill, has completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence, or has other professional skills that are significant in view of the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.

The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least five weeks or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, unless there are special reasons. The employee must then complete higher education pedagogical training during the first two years of employment, so that the requirement is met.

Evaluation Criteria

The applicant must have demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skill of significance for the subject. In the assessment, particular weight will be attached to scientific skill. The applicant must have demonstrated scientific skill by maintaining a good national and international level as a researcher and having well-documented scientific competence. The applicant must have defended a doctoral thesis within a subject area relevant to the appointment.

The scientific skill must be documented through an independent research profile that has left an international mark. This means that the applicant has established their own research line that is distinct from previous supervisors or research environments, has ongoing grants obtained in competition with applicants as principal investigator, experience of a postdoc period carried out in a different environment than where the applicant obtained their doctoral degree, and publications in journals with a peer-review system. Special consideration is given to publications where the applicant is a senior author.

Weight will also be placed on pedagogical skill and the ability to supervise master's students and doctoral candidates. Pedagogical skill should be demonstrated both in teaching and in supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels.

Consideration will also be given to demonstrated ability in leadership, teamwork, and the ability to interact with the surrounding society.

In the appointment, the scientific development potential will be particularly emphasized. This includes the ability to long-term build and lead a competitive research environment. The applicant's research profile should further have the potential to strengthen the Faculty's international impact and contribute to the development of excellent research environments. Special weight will be given to the applicant's potential to develop into a future professor, including the ability to long-term build and lead a competitive research environment.

For teachers at Lund University, the general eligibility requirement is to be suitable for and have the ability otherwise required to perform the duties well.
