Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer at AFRY, you will work with the entire chain within mechanical design. The role involves creating 3D models and drawings using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor, making material and component selections, and performing overall strength calculations. You will become an important part of the project team and be responsible for the mechanical design aspect, which requires close collaboration with colleagues and other disciplines. The work is primarily carried out at AFRY's office or at the customer's site, but there is also some possibility of working from home.

We expect you to be able to drive the design work from idea to finished solution and contribute your expertise to ensure that the project delivers according to requirements and schedule. You will receive support from your manager and a designated buddy who will help you get into the role, as well as access to AFRY's broad network of specialists. In the long term, there are good development opportunities – for example, to deepen your knowledge in strength calculations, take on the role of Design Manager or Project Manager, and develop as a consultant with a holistic perspective in customer assignments.

Some assignments may require security clearance, which means the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.

Qualifications

In the role of Mechanical Designer, your personal qualities are crucial for success. You need to be a Problem Solver who can handle complex challenges in design by seeing the big picture and approaching problems from multiple angles. Furthermore, it is important that you Plan and Structure your work, with clear plans for design assignments and order in drawings and revisions to ensure quality in the project. The role also requires you to be Proactive, as you, as a consultant, are often expected to drive the work forward without being micromanaged. Finally, it is crucial that you are Service-oriented, as you represent AFRY at the customer site and need to act with a service mindset, deliver according to customer needs, and be receptive to new opportunities.

Requirements

• Work Experience:
• Good knowledge of overall mechanical design
• Experience with CAD design in a 3D-CAD program
• Ability to collaborate and work in project teams
• Education:
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• IT Skills:
• Experience working in a CAD program
• Language Skills:
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing

Merits
