The Municipal Executive Office serves as the administration for the Municipal Board and the Municipal Council. The office also serves as the administration for the Integration and Employment Committee, as well as the Water and Environment Committee.

We work with a holistic perspective, close to the political leadership, with the goal of providing the best possible support and service to Kalmar Municipality's political organization, companies, departments, and the general public. The Municipal Executive Office consists of over 300 employees across 14 different operations. RESPONSIBILITIES

As the City Architect at Kalmar Municipality, you have a strategic and cohesive role in the entire urban planning process, from early stages to implementation, and you work closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

You:

• are a driving force in formulating and developing the municipality's vision for the physical environment. Based on this vision, you set the direction for urban development and describe in an inspiring and concrete way which values and qualities we want to create. You clarify the municipality's ambitions early in the processes, for example when starting detailed plans and land allocation, to create a shared understanding of the site's development.
• maintain and develop the whole of the built environment, the spaces between buildings, the green areas, and the public realm.
• ensure that a designed living environment and architectural quality are a natural part of the municipality's development of the physical environment, for example through dialogues in internal and external forums and the development of working methods within the urban planning process.
• are active in early stages to shape the right conditions from the start, for example by participating in strategic planning, commissioning projects, and dialogues with various external actors developing Kalmar.
• provide qualified advice in planning and building permit cases.
• provide qualified advice in implementation issues, for example in municipal property projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

The City Architect is organizationally placed at the Municipal Executive Office within the Urban Development operation and reports directly to the Head of Urban Development. The operation is responsible for land and development, strategy and sustainability, as well as growth and business. In your role as City Architect, you will be part of the management group for the core process "Plan and develop a more attractive society with higher quality of life". You will collaborate daily and to a large extent work together with the Urban Planning and Building Department, primarily the planning and building permit operations.

The role's influence is based on the ability to create trust and build good relationships with civil servants and elected officials. You enjoy working with others and actively contribute to an open, non-hierarchical, and solution-oriented collaborative climate. You are accessible and have good dialogue with the operations and other stakeholders.

You participate in the Municipal Board's Planning Committee as well as the Urban Planning and Building Committee's meetings, including its presidium preparations, as you are a link between elected officials, civil servants, and external actors. You contribute with a deepened understanding of how a well-designed living environment and architecture create added value.

• are a trained architect with broad professional experience within the urban planning sector.
• have a good ability to assess and develop architectural and design qualities at different scales, with an understanding of how the whole affects the details and the details affect the whole.

• have a valid driver's license (Category B).
