In 2026, Kalmar County Hospital will open a completely new building for oncology operations. Two new radiation bunkers with modern linear accelerators will be established here, while the hospital introduces PET/CT – a completely new diagnostic modality for the department.

We are now looking for a biomedical engineer who wants to play a key role in this development.

About the position

Here, you will work with advanced biomedical equipment where technology, precision, and patient safety meet. You will take responsibility for new and advanced equipment within both diagnostics and radiation therapy. You will become part of an experienced biomedical engineering team and have significant responsibility for some of the healthcare sector's most technologically advanced systems.

  • take technical responsibility for advanced systems with high demands on availability and quality
  • combine practical engineering work with problem-solving, analysis, and development

About the role

You will work with the operation, maintenance, and technical development of equipment within radiation therapy and medical imaging.

The tasks include, among other things:

  • preventive and corrective maintenance
  • installation and arrival checks
  • troubleshooting and technical analysis
  • technical support to users and clinical operations, as well as collaboration with suppliers
  • participation in development and investment projects

The role involves great freedom under responsibility and close collaboration with hospital physicists, healthcare staff, suppliers, and other biomedical engineers.

Working hours are during daytime, Monday–Friday.

About you

You have an engineering degree in biomedical engineering or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent.

We want you to have at least two years of experience working with:

  • linear accelerators, and/or
  • PET/CT, SPECT/CT, or other nuclear medicine equipment.

Your future workplace

The Biomedical Engineering Department consists of 15 employees who are responsible for the hospital's biomedical equipment within areas such as medical imaging, ultrasound, and radiation therapy.

We are a team with high technical competence and strong collaboration. Here, you will work closely with colleagues who are happy to share knowledge and experience, while you have the opportunity to develop your own specialist area.

The operation is certified according to ISO 13485 and is characterized by systematic quality work, technical professionalism, and a clear patient focus.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care. More than 2,300 people work here to offer good care and high patient safety to the county's inhabitants.
