Job Description

As an Electrical Design Engineer at AFRY, you will work with the entire chain of electrical design for industrial projects. The role involves creating electrical documentation, circuit diagrams, cable and connection lists, as well as material specifications using CAD tools such as Eplan or Elprocad. You will become an integral part of the project team and be responsible for the electrical design aspect, which requires close collaboration with automation engineers and project managers. The work is primarily carried out at AFRY's office in Kalmar or at the customer's site, with some possibility of remote work.

We expect you to drive the design work from preliminary studies to a finished solution and contribute your expertise to ensure that the project delivers according to requirements and schedules. You will receive support from your manager and colleagues, as well as access to AFRY's broad network of specialists. In the long term, there are good development opportunities – for example, to deepen your expertise in advanced electrical design, take on the role of systems engineer or project manager, and develop as a consultant with a holistic perspective in customer assignments.

Some assignments may require security clearance, which means the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of Electrical Design Engineer, you need a problem-solving approach where you can quickly identify the causes of problems in complex electrical designs, analyze different solution alternatives, and choose the most effective path forward. You are business-minded and structured, meaning you plan and organize your work with order in drawings and documentation, and ensure that the project follows agreed requirements, schedules, and budgets. The role also requires you to be ambitious – you take responsibility for driving tasks forward, actively seek improvements, and keep up with new technology. Finally, it is important that you are a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and customers, shares knowledge, and contributes to a good working climate.

Requirements

• Experience in electrical design within industry (manufacturing/process/food) as well as commissioning.
• At least a University College degree (YH) in automation/electrical design or equivalent experience
• Experience working in Eplan or Elprocad
• Experience with machine safety
• Swedish and English at a professional level in speech and writing

Meritorious

• Knowledge of standards for Safe Machinery
• Experience with multiple electrical design tools
• Knowledge/experience with programming control systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Control Builder / 800xA)
