Background - a project with real significance
Carmenta has a long history of developing software for defense and critical systems. Today, we are building a defense-operational system for information processing and tactical analysis that acts as a central node in a network of systems where information is collected and shared from sensors, drones, and command systems. This enables the creation of a holistic situational picture and supports real-time decision-making. A central part of the solution is the ability to analyze and model what might happen next across multiple parallel scenarios. Development takes place close to reality, and the solution is further developed in international collaborations, such as NATO exercises like CWIX, where systems are evaluated in realistic scenarios.

About the role
As a backend developer, you work with development in .NET at the intersection of data, analysis, and integration, where information flows, integrations, and secure data handling are at the center. You become part of a self-organizing team that develops a modern and intelligent system in close collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces. There is great scope to influence technical solutions and architecture in a system that plays a central role in information exchange between actors within defense and security. Since the solution is under construction and many parts are still being shaped, you will help drive how functionality and secure information handling should be designed. In short, your role involves:

• Developing and enhancing backend solutions in C#/.NET
• Working with integrations against other systems and standards
• Building and developing information models to manage and analyze data
• Implementing solutions for secure communication and access
• Interpreting and implementing various communication and data formats

In the future, you will work with your colleagues to build and further develop authentication and authorization in the system, focusing on identity, access, and secure communication.

Technology & working methods
At Carmenta, you work in a system environment where integrations and secure information management are in focus. You become part of an agile team with colleagues in Stockholm and Gothenburg, where collaboration, initiative, and lack of hierarchy are important parts of daily life. Technologies and tools you will work with:

• .NET / C# for backend development
• APIs and communication (ASP.NET Core, REST/OpenAPI, gRPC)
• Databases and data storage (Entity Framework Core & PostgreSQL)
• Testing and delivery pipeline (GitLab CI/CD & xUnit)

Your profile
We are looking for you who thrive in a role where you take responsibility and have an impact. You are curious, solution-oriented, and enjoy tackling problems where there isn't always a given answer and where everything isn't fully defined. As a person, you thrive when you can take initiative, bounce ideas off colleagues, and keep the solution in focus. We are looking for someone who has:

• A Master of Science degree in Computer Science or another relevant direction for the position
• Several years of experience in C#/.NET development - fullstack or backend in agile environments
• Good understanding of technologies within authentication and authorization, such as OAUTH2/OIDC, SAML, PKI, X.509, JWT, RBAC, or Kerberos
• Experience working with APIs and integration protocols (REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, XML/SOAP)
• citizenship from an EU country and fluent Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious experience:

• Container-based environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, DevOps)
• Databases and modeling (SQL, PostgreSQL, EF Core, UML/ER)
• Military information systems, defense-related command systems, GIS systems, or document management systems
