Do you want to make a real impact and create change? Here you contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.

Your Role

Do you want to put IT at the heart of how we design and produce surface ships? We are looking for an IT Object Leader who takes overall responsibility for IT delivery to the Business Unit Surface Ship – in Sweden and abroad. This is the role for you if you deeply understand the business needs, can hold qualified dialogues with IT specialists, and thrive at the intersection of agile delivery and traditional project monitoring.

As IT Object Leader, you are IT's voice in the development of process, method, and IT solutions for the surface ship business. You act as the operational counterpart to the Business Object Leader (BOL) and bear final responsibility for IT delivery, quality, and lifecycle management of the systems included in the pm3 object. The role requires a holistic view in three dimensions – strategic, tactical, and operational – and the ability to hold together a complex network of stakeholders without losing focus on delivery.

Your main responsibilities:

Needs Analysis & Requirements Management
Translate the business's prioritized needs into technical requirements, development needs, user stories, software releases, and support activities.

pm3 Object Planning & Roadmap
Collaborate closely with the BOL to shape the pm3 object plan with clear goals and roadmaps for business value. You own the IT-related part of the plan and ensure it aligns with the business's overarching priorities.

Sprint & Backlog Management
Lead sprint planning meetings and prioritizations linked to project needs. You keep the backlog in shape, create clarity for the team, and drive delivery pace with a focus on real business value.

Milestone Reporting & Steering Group Presentations
Translate agile metrics into concrete delivery dates that support the BOL's traditional project monitoring. You present monthly in the pm3 steering group together with the BOL and inform the CIO and business owners about delivery security, capacity constraints, resource risks, and new opportunities.

Resource Coordination in a Matrix Organization
Work with Service Managers to secure the right competence in the teams. You also coordinate with IT Site Managers to ensure capacity and continuity.

Your key contacts:

  • Deputy CIO & Head of Operational Development – reporting on deliveries, resource issues, and the object's financial status and efficiency
  • Business Object Leader (BOL) – your closest collaboration partner in daily work
  • Global Service Managers & IT Site Managers – resource coordination and delivery alignment
  • Head of Architecture & Head of Compliance/Cybersecurity – ensuring technical direction and regulatory compliance

Your Profile

You are a natural leader who engages and drives groups forward. You understand the business logic and speak as comfortably about business with a product leader as you do about technology with a system architect. You know how to keep a delivery on track when requirements change, the organization is complex, and time pressure is high.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a holistic view and business understanding – based on your product knowledge, you see how IT changes affect the organization's goals and create conditions for efficiency throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Is analytical and goal-oriented – you quickly grasp complex issues, interpret KPIs and data, and prioritize what gives the greatest strategic effect
  • Turns decisions into action – you have strong internal drive and quickly shorten the path from strategy to concrete activities
  • Navigates safely in both agile environments and traditional project structures – and knows how to build the bridge between them
  • Is a skilled relationship builder with experience leading workshops, working groups, or cross-functional initiatives
  • Advantage: Experience working in manufacturing industry for complex products and linked business processes

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
