The Naval Material Section is looking for a Technical System Leader (TSL) with a focus on ship, protection, and life-saving equipment. Do you want to help ensure that our material systems have the technical capability required – both today and in the future?
About the Unit
The Naval Material Office is part of the Naval Staff and has overall responsibility for the lifecycle of naval material systems. We lead and manage material production from the concept phase through development and procurement to maintenance and decommissioning. The Technology and Maintenance Department (TVA) is responsible for ensuring that the Swedish Armed Forces have the technical capability required – both today and in the future. Personnel at TVA come from both civilian and military backgrounds. As the department is growing, we are now seeking a Technical System Leader for the Naval Material Section in Karlskrona.
Main Responsibilities
As a TSL with a focus on ship, protection, and life-saving equipment, you will be responsible for material systems used throughout the Swedish Armed Forces and essential for the seaworthiness of ships and boats. You will act as the owner and design responsible for the equipment and manage operational and configuration status.
- Responsible for maintenance and exercise material and design responsibility for assigned equipment.
- Support during system and material deliveries.
- Contribute to meeting requirements for operational security, confidentiality, working environment, system security, consideration of the external environment, supervision, and reporting for the Swedish Armed Forces' equipment.
- Support the Technical Director at the Naval Staff and the Material Area Manager (MOA) regarding design responsibility and maintenance.
- Lead and participate in various forums with users, such as the Technical Council and functional meetings.
- Lead the allocation of material needs to units.
- Monitor system integrity/security for assigned equipment and lead/participate in system security work.
- Lead the ordering organization regarding preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as modifications within the scope of maintenance.
- Follow up on maintenance economics.
The work involves close collaboration within the material office, with FMV (Swedish Defence Materiel Administration), the Swedish Armed Forces' schools, units, workshops, and civilian industry. Travel is included in the position.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- University degree in technology or education assessed by the Swedish Armed Forces as equivalent.
- Documented experience in working with technical systems.
- Good administrative skills and proficiency in MS Office.
- Valid driver's license (Category B).

QUALIFYING FACTORS
- Technical professional background.
- Professional experience in the field.
- Experience with ship, protection, and life-saving equipment.
- Experience in project management.
- Familiarity with the Swedish Armed Forces' support systems such as Prio and Lift.
- Work experience from naval ships or schools.
- Experience from civilian shipping.
- Previous military education.
Other
Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a six-month probation period.
Work hours: Full-time.
Location: Karlskrona. Travel is included in the position.
Start date: As soon as possible according to agreement.
