Geotechnical Engineer

Are you a geotechnical engineer with a few years of experience who enjoys complex investigations, societal development, and working in large urban development projects? Then this could be your next job.

About the role

We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer for Västerås.

You will be working in one of Västerås' largest urban development projects, where a former industrial and harbor area is being transformed into a modern city district with housing, services, parks, and public spaces.

In this role, you will be responsible for geotechnical investigations related to ground stability, landslide and slope failure risks, groundwater, and soil conditions. The work includes reviewing previous investigations, planning and conducting new geotechnical surveys, as well as performing analyses, stability calculations, and preparing technical documentation. You will also contribute geotechnical assessments for future construction projects and collaborate with other consultants within areas such as environment, water and sewage (VA), and stormwater management.

You will become part of a project where several specialist disciplines work closely together, and collaboration is a key part of the assignment.

This is a consulting assignment where you will be employed by Futuria Consult and hired out to the client. The assignment initially runs until 2027-04-30, with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for someone who

• Has approximately 4–8 years of experience in geotechnical work and the ability to work independently.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent competence acquired through professional experience.
• Have experience with geotechnical investigations in similar projects.
• Have experience with investigations of quays and docks.
• Have experience with investigations near lakes or watercourses.
• Can provide at least one reference assignment from a similar geotechnical project to verify your experience.

Meritorious qualifications

• Experience with water and sewage (VA) projects.
• Experience with large urban development projects or detailed planning projects.
• Experience with stability and settlement calculations, as well as working according to SGI and IEG guidelines.
