We are now expanding our nursing staff to the Forensic Psychiatric Care Wards at Helix and Huddinge Hospital

Forensic Psychiatric Care Stockholm provides forensic psychiatric care for patients from across Stockholm County and has approximately 550 employees distributed across two sections. The clinic has 15 inpatient wards and 2 outpatient clinics. The operations are spread across three facilities located at Helix (behind Huddinge Hospital), Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, and Löwenströmska Hospital in Upplands Väsby.

Forensic Psychiatric Care Stockholm is now making a major investment to increase the number of nursing positions to ensure a good and sustainable working environment and to maintain high quality in care, patient safety, and security work. We are adding a total of 6 nursing positions distributed across 3 units, which will provide excellent conditions for a sustainable and developing work climate.

We are looking for nurses for our care units in security class 2 and 3. The nurse position involves working on a schedule that includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. The units consist of two wards located at Helix and Huddinge Hospital, with 14 to 15 patients on each ward.

The patients admitted to our wards are primarily those transferred for care under the Act on Forensic Psychiatric Care (LRV). Many of the patients we care for have serious mental health issues. A large proportion of the patients also have substance abuse issues.

The goal of forensic psychiatric care is to habilitate and rehabilitate patients to live in society with increased psychosocial functioning and a reduced risk of reoffending. We aim to contribute to a safe and sustainable discharge process to minimize the risk of relapse.

Working on a care ward offers the opportunity to work long-term with patients together with a professional care assistant/nursing assistant team and nursing colleagues. In addition to nurses and nursing assistants, a unit manager and an assistant unit manager work closely with the operations. One or more physicians are linked to the unit with responsibility for the patients. Counselors, psychologists, and occupational therapists are also important resources in the work. All healthcare staff participate actively in the care work performed.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse, you have a clear leadership role on the ward with primary responsibility for care planning together with care assistants and nursing assistants.

Ward staff have quiet lunch breaks, breaks with colleagues to exchange thoughts and ideas, regular training initiatives, etc. We have allocated time for meetings such as nurse meetings, apt:n, and ward meetings.

More nurses on the wards provide more time to develop the quality of care together with others, both within your own unit and within the clinic. Some clinical assignments may be included in the nurse position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Specialist training in psychiatry, previous experience working in psychiatry, addiction care, and/or correctional services is desirable.

In your interaction with patients, you are always professional, sensitive, and unbiased. You are helpful, but can also stand for clarity and set boundaries when necessary. You have excellent teamwork skills and thrive working in a team, while also having the ability to work independently and lead others.
