The Workplace

Hantverkargatan's group home has four places and is located in Nordmaling, Nordmaling Municipality. The residents of the group home belong to the LSS target group. Everyone has different functional variations and varying support needs. The staff group consists of employees who work day/evening/weekend and on-call nights.

We have full-time work as the norm in our LSS operations, which means that employees need to be able to work flexibly, preferably across all times of the day and at several workplaces with so-called resource shifts.

The Role and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include personal care as well as delegated tasks from the municipality's Health and Social Care (HSL) unit. The work places high demands on patience, the ability to see consequences, and the ability to interpret and clarify the residents' communication. We also work to provide residents with an active leisure time, so daily outdoor activities and accompanying them to various activities are part of the staff's duties.

Your Profile

The requirements for you to work as a housing supervisor are that you are educated as a nursing assistant, childcare worker, or have other education or experience assessed as equivalent.

To be able to communicate with residents as well as write and read care/social documentation and receive medication delegation, you need good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You also need a valid B-driver's license.

Experience working with residents who have functional variations and mental health diagnoses is meritorious, as is knowledge and experience of low-affective approach. Knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is meritorious as the residents use picture support in their daily lives.

The work may also involve handling threatening behavior or violent situations, which requires you to be calm, stable, able to make decisions and maintain focus under pressure, as well as being able to treat individuals with respect even in challenging situations. Experience of similar situations is meritorious.

Your personality must match the needs of our residents, so great importance is placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who:

  • is positive, patient, and confident in yourself,
  • has the ability to create calm and stability,
  • has a good ability to work both independently and in a team,
  • is engaged and interested in working with the residents' development based on their conditions and needs,
  • has good cooperation skills and sees opportunities instead of obstacles,
  • has no physical limitations as heavy lifting occurs.

Approach is the keyword in working with our residents within LSS. Having personal maturity means being able to see the consequences of your actions in a longer perspective before acting. You need to be stable and perceived as the same regardless of context and social demands. The residents' intellectual levels vary, and they need guidance in daily life and to feel safe. Our residents also need employees who show and guide them in a pedagogical way so that daily life becomes understandable.

Independent work can sometimes occur at the workplace, which means that you are responsible for structuring, planning, and organizing the day's tasks. This requires you to be self-reliant and have a good ability to handle and solve problems that arise.

As an employee in a group home, you are part of a work team, which places demands on your ability to cooperate and build good relationships with colleagues. In your work, you also have contact with, among others, healthcare personnel, guardians, relatives, and day activities. Therefore, it is important that you are service-oriented and have a good ability to create and maintain professional relationships.

The residents' different functional variations require you as staff to have patience and endurance. You also need to have an empathetic ability and be able to put yourself in the residents' situation and how they feel, all to put the residents' well-being in focus. Different situations require different ways of acting, which means you need to be able to be flexible as well as stable and stick to your actions.

Before employment within LSS, for work in the home of persons with functional variations, an extract from the criminal record register must be presented in accordance with current legislation. The extract must be presented to the employer before the employment begins to ensure safety and security for our residents.
