JM is the leading residential developer in the Nordics. Our operations focus on new housing production in attractive locations, with a primary emphasis on expanding metropolitan areas and university towns in Sweden, Norway, and Finland. We also engage in commercial property development and contracting, primarily in the Greater Stockholm area. JM promotes long-term sustainability in all its activities. We have an annual turnover of approximately 10 billion SEK and employ around 1,800 people. JM AB is a public company listed on NASDAQ Stockholm, Large Cap segment.
At JM, you drive development forward and together we build the societies of tomorrow.
Do you want to take a key role in building a modern data platform from scratch – while simultaneously developing towards a more architectural role over time? Then this could be the right next step for you.
About the role
As a Data Engineer at JM, you step into a situation where we are undergoing a comprehensive transformation within the data domain. We are moving from a traditional on-premise solution to a modern cloud-based data platform in Snowflake, with the goal of enabling a more data-driven way of working throughout the organization.
This is not a role where you manage a finished product; rather, you will become one of the key figures in building and shaping our data platform, our working methods, and our structure moving forward. The role is initially hands-on, focusing on migration and platform construction, while you have significant influence over technical choices, solutions, and how we work with data in the long term.
As the platform matures, there is a clear opportunity to grow in the role and gradually take on greater overall responsibility, with a natural development towards a more architecture- and design-oriented role. You will have the opportunity to help build a modern data platform from the ground up. You will have significant influence over technology choices, structure, and working methods, becoming a key person in a business-critical transformation.
In this role, you are responsible for driving development and maintenance within your areas for the entire group, which includes Sweden, Norway, and Finland. You report to Lars Lundin, Group Manager Integration & Analytics, and work closely with both the business operations and other IT teams in an environment characterized by collaboration, trust, and personal responsibility.
Examples of tasks included in the role:
- Drive and execute migration from existing Data Warehouse to Snowflake
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
- Build and further develop the cloud-based data platform
- Work with data modeling for analytics and decision support
- Ensure performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Establish data governance, including data quality, lineage, and business rules
- Work with automation, testing, and monitoring
- Manage CI/CD flows in Azure DevOps
- Work closely with the business to understand data needs and create business value
- Support Data Analysts in Power BI as needed
- Contribute to technical guidelines, architecture, and best practices
Your profile
To succeed in this role, we are looking for you who:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering
- Have very good knowledge of SQL
- Have experience with data modeling (e.g., Kimball, star schema)
- Have worked with data pipelines (ETL/ELT) in production
- Have experience with Snowflake
- Have experience with dbt or similar tools
- Have worked in a cloud environment, such as Azure
- Have experience with Python
- Have worked with CI/CD and DevOps
- Have a good understanding of data architecture and data governance
Meritorious: Experience with data catalogs, Power BI/DAX, large-scale data migrations, financial data, or SAP, as well as a background from the real estate or construction industry. Academic education at the university level in a relevant field is considered meritorious.
The role requires you to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are self-motivated, structured, and solution-oriented with strong personal drive. You thrive in an environment that is under development, where you get to take responsibility, think ahead, and influence how things are done. At the same time, you have good communication skills and appreciate working closely with both technology and business operations.
