About Us

As Head of the Control Division, you lead the Swedish Customs Administration's largest division and hold a responsible and significant role. As Head of Division, you are part of the agency's management group.
The Swedish Customs Administration's operational activities are divided into four divisions: Control, Revenue, Intelligence, and Customs Crime. The Control Division has a broad mandate to ensure that only approved goods cross the border. The task involves conducting customs controls on imports and exports where the Swedish Customs Administration looks for goods that violate restrictions and ensures that the correct customs duties and taxes are collected.
The division consists of a total of approximately 950 employees divided into four geographic units: South, West, East, and North, each led by a Unit Manager. As Head of Division, you are responsible for the Control Division and lead your division's management group. You have an Assistant Head of Division to assist you, and you also have management support at your disposal.
About the Position
As Head of the Control Division, you have overall responsibility for leading and managing the operations, achieving good results, and practicing good leadership. Your main tasks include:
- Responsibility for the Control Division's goals and results, strategic responsibility for the management and control of operations, and overall budget and personnel responsibility.
- Develop operations and lead change initiatives.
- Adapt operations to changed conditions and prioritize what is most important in the short and long term.
- Lead and develop your management group and create good conditions for subordinate managers to lead their operations.
- Maintain a good awareness of the external environment and understand how the external environment affects the Swedish Customs Administration's operations and act accordingly.
- Represent the agency in external contexts, both nationally and internationally.
Are You the One We Are Looking For?
We are looking for you who have:
- Several years of experience from similar senior management positions involving leading and developing a large operation and achieving good results.
- Experience in management group work and experience leading through subordinate managers.
- Current experience from a management position in a government agency and understanding of how an agency functions in management, control, organization, and follow-up.
- University education or experience that we assess as equivalent.
- Leadership training.
- Swedish citizenship.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience of international work.
- Experience of the division's area of operations or other similar operations.

You have experience leading and driving change initiatives and can challenge yourself and others to stimulate innovation and change. You have a strategic perspective and a good holistic view. You should be communicative, easy to collaborate with, and able to establish contacts with others both within and outside the Swedish Customs Administration.

Employment Type: The position is a permanent employment with individual salary setting. Within the Swedish Customs Administration, time-limited management appointments of 5 years with the possibility of extension are applied.

Conducting manager tests may become relevant during the recruitment process.
