The role of the Army Combat School (MSS) is to create the conditions, together with the rest of the army, for the Swedish Armed Forces to solve its assigned tasks in the best possible way, both nationally and internationally. MSS also handles tasks for the entire Armed Forces, such as the development and procurement of soldier-carried equipment, small arms, and support weapons. Your workplace is of the highest international rank regarding combat training facilities.

About the position

At STA MOUT (Combat Training Facility for Military Operations in Urban Terrain), you will have the opportunity to work with exciting and challenging tasks. We value mutual trust, and here you will have both personal responsibility and good opportunities for professional development.

You will become part of an experienced and close-knit work group consisting of 3 operators, 1 simulator technician, 1 system technician, and 6 career officers (Commander, Deputy Commander/Company Exercise Leader, 4 platoon instructors).

Your main task is to conduct training and exercises with units booked into the STA MOUT facility. In the preparatory phase, you collaborate with the unit to set the framework, including determining the objectives to be achieved.

During the execution, you lead the exercise scenario together with the unit's Company Exercise Leader (CEL). You direct and coordinate STA MOUT's platoon instructors and operators, the exercising unit's instructors, and the opposing force. You communicate via radio with the platoon exercise leaders who physically follow the platoons. These are linked to an operator who collects evaluation data via the Expert system. You normally lead from the Exercise Control House, where the operators are also located.

After the exercise phase, an evaluation takes place with compiled data from the operators. The data may include radio traffic, position/movement, neutralized targets, film/photo, or map situation pictures. Outside of unit exercises, you are responsible for internal (supplementary) training in MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain), weapons service, or other training needs to meet the units' requirements during exercises.

Other duties include maintenance of materiel such as vehicles and weapons. You are also involved in the facility's maintenance, including both construction elements and, to some extent, technical systems.

Qualifications

  • Several years of background in a unit where combat is the main task. Experience in combat within company and battalion frameworks.
  • Experienced educator with the competence to train platoons and companies across the entire spectrum, from low to very high training levels.
  • Good skill in leading maneuver companies.
  • Experience as a Company Exercise Leader (CEL).
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
  • Good knowledge of English.
  • Good physical condition.

Meritorious

  • Experience leading a work team in a stressful and complex environment towards set goals.
  • Competence in indirect fire, maintenance, technical service, and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).
  • Experience from weapons schools (AK4, AK5, AK24, AKM4, KSP58/90, P88).
  • Competence in night vision equipment such as sights and carried sensors.

Personal qualities

  • A good colleague and leader who enjoys taking responsibility and leading the group towards the goal. You are inspiring and motivating so that the work team performs at a high level.
  • Loyal, receptive, and shows good judgment. You find it easy to interact with different types of people.
  • Have the will and commitment to raise the troop's competence in training situations so that set goals are reached. Your approach is learning-oriented rather than testing or judging.
  • Show high integrity towards the work group, but also towards exercising units and other stakeholders.
  • Thorough, structured, resilient, driven, and solution-oriented.
  • Stress-resistant and flexible, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a hectic environment.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
