Job Description

The Service Department is one of the Swedish Police Authority's national departments and consists of three units with a total of just over 720 employees. The department is part of the crime-fighting mission and works with citizen services in the form of, among other things, e-services and reception operations, develops travel documents and service cards, provides public records and extracts from registers. The authority's administrative cases and the national telephone exchange are also included, as well as responsibility for the authority's information management.
The position will be located within the administrative legal operations and includes, among other things, issuing and revoking permits to possess firearms, inspections of gun dealers, and other administrative legal cases within the firearms area. Some tasks are performed in close cooperation with police operational activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As an administrative case handler, you work with investigating, processing, presenting, and making decisions in administrative legal cases. In this group, cases are handled according to the Firearms Act and the Firearms Ordinance.
Firearms cases include, among other things, cases where private individuals or organizations apply for permits to possess firearms, for example for hunting or target shooting purposes. You will assess individuals' suitability to possess firearms, whether firearm permits should be revoked, and how a firearm from an estate should be handled. The work involves writing decisions that you either present to your manager or decide on yourself. The processing of administrative legal cases takes place primarily in the police's digital case management system and through written and oral contact, so you need to be comfortable working with computers and telephones as work tools.
The work also includes conducting inspections of gun dealers, private individuals, shooting clubs, and associations regarding the physical storage and possession of firearms. Therefore, the work requires comfort in handling physical firearms. Travel occurs in the work when conducting inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Completed upper secondary education
- At least 6 months of recent work experience in qualified case handling and decision-making that the employer deems relevant
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- Manual B driver's license
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Current work experience in administrative legal cases that the employer deems relevant
- Experience in searching and working with legal texts
- Experience in practical handling of firearms, for example from military service, hunting, or target shooting activities
- Good computer skills with experience working in case management systems and the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience working within a government agency or in other public operations
- Current experience of the police organization's operations
- Current experience of police systems

You also care about your colleagues and enjoy collaborating. As a person, you are interested in learning new legislation and new working methods.
In the work of assessing individuals' suitability to possess firearms, accuracy and high integrity are required. In dialogue with citizens via phone/email and during inspections, high demands are placed on you being service-oriented with very good communication skills.
