RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an experienced cook for our production kitchen at Ålsta Preschool and Primary School. We serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily. The goal of our operations is to serve delicious and well-prepared meals that meet the children's/students' needs for energy and nutrition. At our workplace, it is important that the children/students receive nutritious and healthy food, and we use organic ingredients to a large extent and prepare meals from scratch whenever possible.

Together with the head chef, kitchen assistants, and educators, you will make the meal a holistic experience. You prepare varied salads and vegetables for the meals, as well as items served for breakfast and snacks.

We would like you to have an interest in children's health and a desire to develop operations in a healthy direction, in addition to your cooking duties. For the role of cook, you need to be meticulous, flexible, able to work in a structured manner, and organize your work efficiently.

We are now looking for you who, together with us, want to work to provide students with good and nutritious food.

The work includes responsibility for:

Planning menus and purchasing/ordering supplies, as well as ensuring the budget is maintained
Preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, snacks, including special diets
Food hygiene, self-control, cleaning, and dishwashing in the kitchen
Having knowledge of overall responsibility when the head chef is absent

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who:

Work well with other people and have a pleasant and attentive attitude towards both other staff, children/students, and guardians. Good communication and collaboration between the kitchen and educators is a prerequisite for safe food handling
See what needs to be done and take the initiative to get it done
Adapt easily to new circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and attitude
Plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently. Set and adhere to timeframes
Are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions with children/students, colleagues, and guardians. Have interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions

Requirements:

Trained cook with previous experience working in a school kitchen
Experience and knowledge of special diets and vegetarian food
Training in hygiene and self-control
Good computer skills
Good proficiency in Swedish in both speech and writing

Merits:

It is a plus if you have knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern meal operations
