Cook for Supported Housing Ljungbacken

Welcome to us

We are looking for an engaged and passionate cook who wants to help create good meal experiences for our residents at Supported Housing Ljungbacken.

Ljungbacken is a sober and drug-free supported housing facility in Åkersberga, staffed around the clock. The facility consists of three buildings with a large garden and close proximity to nature and recreation. Good transport connections are available, with a bus stop only about 100 meters from the residence.

Ljungbacken is part of the Housing Unit and has the mission to support individuals on their path out of homelessness. Our residents are women and men who, due to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues, or other social difficulties, need support and help in their daily lives. The facility has 26 places.

Job Description

At Ljungbacken, there is a dedicated kitchen where most of the food is prepared from scratch. The kitchen is responsible for lunch and dinner, as well as coffee breaks in the afternoons and evenings.

As a cook with us, you work Monday–Friday from 08:30–17:30 and are responsible for:

  • Planning and preparing lunch and dinner.
  • Ordering food and other supplies for the kitchen.
  • Preparing nutritious, varied, and tasty meals.
  • Handling special diets based on individual needs.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen according to established routines.
  • Self-inspections and documentation in accordance with food legislation and current guidelines.

We are looking for someone who loves cooking and sees the meal as an important part of people's well-being. You work independently, structured, and have good skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work.

You have good cooperation skills, are attentive in meetings with other people, and enjoy collaborating with different professional groups within the facility.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • Cooking training.
  • Current experience working in a large kitchen.
  • Experience and competence in preparing nutritious and varied meals as well as special diets.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

Merits

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience in meeting people with substance abuse and/or mental health issues in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Experience from work within healthcare, elderly care, or social services.

Personal Qualities

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You are responsible, service-oriented, and have a genuine interest in cooking. You contribute to a positive work environment and see the value in creating meals that provide both nutrition and joy of eating.

Since the work involves daily meetings with people in vulnerable life situations, it is important that you have a respectful attitude, understanding of different living conditions, and a low-affective approach. You meet every individual with attentiveness, dignity, and respect.

We welcome your application!
