Do you want to work with communications in a complex and socially vital organization that makes a difference to people's lives and health – both today and in the future? We are now seeking an experienced Communications Strategist for a fixed-term position running until August 2027.

Your Role

As a Communications Strategist, you will work closely with managers, leadership, and operations within Region Uppsala. You will engage in communications that support the goals, development, and change of the operations. In this role, you will primarily provide communications support to the Management Office of Region Uppsala, but you may also work on assignments concerning the region as a whole or other administrations.

In this role, you will alternate between long-term strategic assignments and shorter-term initiatives linked to projects, changes, and current issues. You will function as a qualified communications advisor to clients by analyzing communications needs and developing strategies, plans, and activities that support operational goals. You will lead or participate in communications assignments, projects, and development initiatives, as well as plan, produce, and follow up on communications efforts across various channels. You will also handle communications efforts regarding current issues or events that impact the operations.

The role involves many contact points and close collaboration with managers, experts, and colleagues in different parts of the organization.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree in media and communication studies or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent,
  • At least five (5) years of experience in qualified strategic communications work,
  • Experience in planning, leading, and executing communications initiatives in complex organizations,
  • Experience in providing communications advice to managers, leadership, and project managers,
  • Experience in translating analysis and strategy into concrete communications initiatives that yield results,
  • Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish.

It is an advantage if you have experience in communications within the public sector, preferably in politically governed operations or healthcare.

Your Competencies

We are looking for someone who is confident in their professional role and accustomed to navigating complex contexts with many perspectives and interests.

To succeed in the role, we see that you:

  • Have strategic ability and a good holistic view,
  • Are receptive and have an easy time building trust and relationships,
  • Are proactive, self-reliant, and solution-oriented,
  • Can quickly familiarize yourself with new operations, assignments, and questions,
  • Have a good ability to prioritize and adapt your work when conditions change.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Our Operations

The position is located within the Communications Unit of the Communications and Information Department at Region Uppsala. The unit provides communications support to the region's eight administrations and works with internal and external communications, brand issues, and crisis communications.

Here, communicators, communications strategists, and graphic producers work together to support the region's operations through both strategic and operational communications initiatives.

The department also includes three additional communications units – communications planning, web communications, and the press and editorial unit. The department also includes three information units responsible for the registry and regional archive, data management, as well as reception, conference services, and caretaking at the House of the Region.
