Qualified Physician/Resident Physician for Forensic Psychiatry at Akademiska Sjukhuset

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

We are now looking for a qualified physician or resident physician for forensic psychiatry at Akademiska Sjukhuset. Forensic Psychiatry moved to completely new premises in 2024 and is located in Jälla, just northeast of Uppsala. In September 2024, we expanded the number of care beds and opened another new department under our own management.

The operations include two 24-hour departments with 12 care beds each: one department with security class 2 (high security) and one department with security class 3 (acceptable security). In addition to inpatient care, we also provide forensic psychiatric outpatient care for approximately thirty patients.

Forensic Psychiatry provides forensic psychiatric care and rehabilitation through integrated work between forensic psychiatric inpatient care and outpatient care. The forensic psychiatric unit is also a significant purchaser of inpatient care in other regions.

Your Role

As a qualified physician/resident physician, you will work with forensic psychiatric care and rehabilitation together with the unit's specialist physicians, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and care assistants. You will work with psychiatric diagnostics, medication treatment, and follow-up of the conditions for which patients are being treated.

Here, you will have the opportunity to develop through stimulating interactions with patients and colleagues.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified/examined physician with a genuine interest in forensic psychiatry. Previous experience working in forensic psychiatry or psychiatry is advantageous.

Your Competencies

You enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills. You express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. As a person, you are humble, responsible, curious, and meticulous. If this describes you, forensic psychiatry at Akademiska Sjukhuset may be the right challenge for you.

What We Offer

We offer a fixed-term temporary position with full-time employment. Start date according to agreement. Prior to employment, extracts from suspicion and criminal records will be requested. Here, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
