Neuro Department – Nurse for Neurosurgical Ward 85E
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Do you have your head in the game?
Then we would love for you to come and work with us at the neurosurgical ward 85E! We are looking for new colleagues who are interested in exciting work that involves caring for the most important thing a human has – the brain. If you also want to influence and develop our operations, then you have come to the right place!
"The work is varied and often challenging, but we are a good and tightly knit team with mixed experiences who support and help each other. Together we provide neurosurgically safe care and every day we develop both as individuals and as a work team."
– Maria, Nurse 85E
"I am looking for you who want to take an active role in developing our ward, both regarding patient safety work and also workplace environment issues."
– Cornelia, Ward Manager 85E
Our Operations
We have a large catchment area as we are one of six highly specialized neurosurgical clinics in Sweden, and we receive both planned and acute patients around the clock. The patients we care for have head bleeds, brain and spinal tumors, spinal injuries, vascular malformations, and hydrocephalus. The brain is the most important thing we have and the part that controls our body and who we are. The brain is a mystery we are constantly learning more about. It controls everything we do, or fail to do. Sounds exciting? Come and become part of our fantastic team! You are warmly welcome to observe us to get your own impression of our ward.
We have close cooperation across ward boundaries. We place great emphasis on the work environment as well as good care for our patients. We have active leadership that contributes to structure and an engaged work group that together works for a sustainable and good work environment here.
Your Role
As a nurse with us, you will become part of a skilled team, where we support and help each other while you get the opportunity to develop your clinical eye and work independently. We have close cooperation with other professions, and you will be an important puzzle piece in both our work with the work environment and patient safety on the ward. Here, you will encounter varied work with challenging tasks that give you broad competence. As a nurse with us, you work in four-nurse teams day and night, which means approximately six patients per team.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. If you have previous experience as a nurse, it is an advantage, but even if you are a recent graduate, you are warmly welcome to apply.
Your Competence
You are receptive and have an easy time communicating with colleagues, patients, and relatives. You are an outgoing person who can work independently and together in a group. You have an interest in developing our operations where the patient is always in focus. You have the ability to prioritize and reprioritize your tasks as needed. Great importance is placed on personal qualities as the work requires flexibility and a positive attitude.
We Offer
We offer you a permanent position at 100% with start date according to agreement. We have individual schedules with the possibility for you to influence your work arrangement with us. Here, there is the possibility to work full- or part-time; you are employed in a rotation position where we are as responsive as possible to your wishes regarding the scheduling of working hours. We offer individual induction for approximately 6 weeks depending on previous experience.
Since Akademiska sjukhuset is a university hospital with the mission to provide healthcare and research, you also get the opportunity to help develop care for our patients. If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in Akademiska sjukhuset's clinical development year. This means you get the opportunity to perform clinical work on our ward, while also getting the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and exchange experiences with newly hired colleagues throughout the hospital's departments. The clinical training year is planned into your schedule and counts towards your working hours. For you who are an experienced nurse, we on the neurosurgical ward have the possibility to offer you competence-enhancing university courses in neurosurgery.
