Our Operations
Surgical Ward 70C is one of four wards included in the Surgical and Urology Department. Here, we provide highly specialized surgical care focusing on transplant surgery, liver/pancreas, and esophagus/stomach surgery. Most of our operations are planned, but we also provide a certain amount of acute and sub-acute care with direct admissions to the ward from our partner regions.
The ward also includes the transplant clinic, where our patients come for investigations and follow-up visits before and after transplantation. The clinic is staffed partly by personnel from the ward. The ward has 24 beds staffed by a large and engaged team of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, managers, dietitians, physiotherapists, and pharmacists. We work with the patient in focus, and you will have an exciting job where you meet patients of different ages and situations and help make a difference in their lives. The ward strives to offer the best possible care to our patients. Therefore, we actively work on the development and further training of our staff and invest in ensuring that you, as a new employee, receive a good introduction and training to have the best possible prerequisites for your work, whether you are new to the role or experienced.
Here, you will have a developing and enjoyable job where you become part of an engaged and professional team with a welcoming and accommodating work climate. We have good experience, knowledge, and routine in welcoming new nurses, which means you will get a secure and good start to your career with us, regardless of your previous level of experience.
Your Role
The ward provides care around the clock, seven days a week, and competent night staff is a crucial part of this. We offer you, as a nurse, a developing and varied job where you gain broad knowledge in surgical nursing. Over time, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge within our medical sections and further develop through internal and external training and opportunities for other tasks. We offer the possibility of paid specialist training in surgery as well as rotation assignments to the clinic, research, and special assignments.
Your duties include caring for postoperative patients, which involves both practical tasks such as administering medication, infusions, and injections, and handling pain pumps, as well as more administrative tasks such as patient education and identifying care needs and risk areas. Together with our experienced and competent nursing assistants, you plan and lead the work with the patient in focus.
Examples of patient groups you will encounter here include:
- Patients with tumor diseases who have undergone liver, pancreas, esophagus, or stomach surgery
- Patients undergoing kidney, pancreas, and islet cell transplantation
- Patients with complications after transplantation
We work with healthy scheduling, and you will have the opportunity to influence your schedule. We have scheduled training days four times a year as well as weekly lectures for continuous competence development. If you are interested in deepening your knowledge within a specific area of nursing, you will have the opportunity for scheduled working time to work with this.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with longer experience and who only want to work night shifts. Previous experience in surgery or emergency care is meritorious but not a requirement. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Your Competence
- You are proactive and enjoy varied tasks
- You enjoy learning new tasks and working methods
- You are empathetic, cooperative, and enjoy working in a team
- You are responsible and have the ability to adapt to different situations

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, functionalities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala mobilizes all permanently employed personnel based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, checks of suspicion and criminal records are conducted for all job seekers who in the sought employment may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and youth, or involuntary care of addicts, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to mainly contain work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's own channels, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
