Psychologist at the Children's Hospital, Uppsala University Hospital
Small hearts need great care!
We are a small hospital within a large one, and it is precisely in this smallness that our greatness lies. Here, we house all the competence a sick child might need, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer an excellent introduction for new employees and many interesting opportunities for development. There is also unexpectedly much joy in what is sometimes very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know we do a much better job together!
Our Operations
The Counselor and Psychology Department at the Children's Hospital belongs to the Pediatric Paramedicine section, which includes paramedical professions working with children within the hospital area. The department includes psychologists and counselors. The psychologists at the Children's Hospital form a stable work group where several colleagues conduct part-time research. The psychologists work in interdisciplinary teams within fields such as oncology, neurology, and specialized pediatric outpatient care. At the Children's Hospital, psychologists work independently with assessments, treatment contacts, and complex, intensive assessment and treatment periods in multidisciplinary teams. The questions addressed may concern, for example, learning difficulties, communication difficulties, and rehabilitation after acquired brain injury. Complex neuropsychiatric issues are also assessed. Treatment of mild psychiatric problems, behavioral changes, and compliance related to the child's underlying somatic disease or treatment is also included. Some of the patient groups we work with are children followed by the neonatal follow-up program, children and adolescents with oncological disease, diabetes, or obesity.
Your Role
You will independently and as part of a team assess children with cognitive difficulties of a somatic origin, as well as carry out therapeutic interventions for children with an underlying somatic disease. Your role includes neuropsychological assessments in our neurorehabilitation team.
As a psychologist, you will participate together with other professional categories in assessments, investigations, action planning, and information transfer to schools and other networks. You also provide support, information, and counseling to parents. Some interventions may take place in group activities, and the job duties also include giving presentations to other staff groups.
Your Qualifications and Competence
You are a licensed psychologist and have experience and interest in both therapeutic treatment and neuropsychological assessment. To thrive in the role, you should be team-oriented, flexible, and accustomed to meeting people with different prerequisites and needs. You should have an interest in working in teams with other professions. We would appreciate it if you had previous experience working with children, for example from pediatric care, habilitation, or psychiatry. You should have a good ability to build alliances between people, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability.
What We Offer
We offer a permanent position starting from 261001, or as agreed. We apply flexible working hours and access to wellness programs and external group supervision. You will have the opportunity for an introduction period where you will learn our ways of working.
