Generic is now looking for a Platform Engineer who wants to combine operational platform work with technical depth and play a key role in the continued development of Generic's platform. You will contribute to strengthening and further developing a Kubernetes environment with a focus on automation, scalability, and high availability to meet both current and future needs. You will be joining an environment where the platform is already live and functioning, but where demands for scalability, automation, and stability are increasing rapidly as services grow.

This is a role for you if you want to be close to production and influence how a critical platform actually behaves in reality. You can base yourself at our office in Örebro or Luleå. The platform team is currently based primarily in Luleå, which means occasional travel there for good collaboration and joint activities.

About the role

As a Platform Engineer, you will become a central part of how the platform is operated and further developed in production. You will work closely with the development teams and are often involved when something is not behaving as expected – or when new services need to be deployed quickly and safely. The role combines hands-on work in the platform with long-term improvements to how we build and deliver software.

You will be responsible for:

• Further developing and operating our Kubernetes platform in production.
• Improving CI/CD flows and making deliveries more robust and predictable.
• Developing and refining our GitOps processes.
• Ensuring observability (metrics, logs, and tracing) in the production environment.
• Working with incidents, debugging, and root cause analysis.
• Improving networking, traffic flows, and performance in distributed systems.
• Reducing manual work through automation where it truly makes a difference.
• Collaborating closely with development teams regarding production deployment.

About you

We are looking for someone who has built and operated platforms in production environments and is accustomed to working closely with systems where operations and development meet. You are confident in debugging, structured in your approach, and used to taking responsibility when systems do not behave as expected.

You have:

• Several years of experience with Kubernetes in production.
• Strong Linux skills and good debugging abilities.
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Good understanding of container technology (Docker/containerd).
• Experience with distributed systems and incident management.
• Good understanding of networking and traffic flows.
• Ability to work stably and methodically even under pressure.

Plus:

• GitOps (e.g., Argo CD).
• Cloud (especially Azure).
• Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/Loki).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Bash, or Python).
• Messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Advanced Kubernetes networking (e.g., Cilium/eBPF).
• Experience from CPaaS or telecommunications.
