The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.
Do you want to lead the work to make all of Sweden ready? Then you could be our next colleague.
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency offers training to strengthen and develop capabilities within Swedish rescue services, civil defense, and crisis management. As a teacher with us, you are a crucial link in this competence supply. In our team of teachers, teaching and assessment are your main tasks, but you also participate in subject discussions, subject development, and collaborate with other subject areas within our own agency as well as external actors. The agency's school operations also work in cross-disciplinary and collaborative projects. This strengthens our students', conscripts', and course participants' understanding of the complexity involved in future assignments and provides greater insight into the role of multiple actors in protecting society.
Your responsibilities and tasks
You will be responsible for planning and conducting theoretical and practical teaching, practical exercises, examination, and assessment of training modules, primarily within fire and rescue in several different courses and programs. The teaching is primarily conducted at the school, but there are also parts delivered remotely. This means you need to be comfortable in the physical training environments in the field, as well as in the physical and digital classroom.
Your tasks include:
- Preparing and conducting teaching and practical exercises in the subjects of fire and rescue
- Examining, assessing, and grading in both theoretical and practical moments
- Following up on and evaluating training initiatives and working on continuous improvements in teaching
- Being involved in unit-wide work and current subject groups
Your knowledge and competencies
We are looking for you who:
- Are trained as a full-time or part-time firefighter.
- Have a fitness certificate for diving in smoke.
- Have documented experience working with fire and rescue.
It is meritorious if you have:
- A degree from the Disaster Protection (SMO) education.
- Pedagogical competence and/or experience in mentoring.
- Experience working with hazardous substances.
- Leadership competence.
In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the government's values. As all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the agency's code of conduct.
The code of conduct applies in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive – action-oriented.

We would like you to have achieved personal maturity and be secure in yourself, possessing pedagogical insight that enables you to reach students in different ways. We also see that you are a natural leader in the educational environment.

Your place of work will be Sandö, High Coast. Travel within the employment occurs. Some duties may be located at our other training sites. Working hours are partly scheduled and also include evenings and weekends.
About us
The Basic Training sections work closely together across the training sites Sandö and Revinge. Through environmental scanning, current research, and proven experience, we conduct our training to meet future needs in the best way, and right now our mission is growing through the new basic training for firefighters but also by developing functional civil defense training.
We also offer you the opportunity to take wellness time and you will receive a wellness allowance. For you as a state employee, there are also favorable holiday terms.
