About the workplace

Vänersborg Music and Culture School has been a very important part of Vänersborg Municipality's cultural life for 60 years. Here, children and young people have the chance to develop within music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. You will have approximately 35 colleagues across the different subjects, and together you will meet around 1,400 children and young people in various courses every week.

Our activities offer a wide range of programs for children and young people up to the age of 19. Our mission is to provide meaningful leisure time and opportunities for development within our artistic subjects. We emphasize the importance of allowing our children and young people to develop based on their different prerequisites and levels of ambition.

The Music and Culture School is organized within the Department of Culture and Leisure. The department has approximately 110 employees responsible for art halls, sports facilities, libraries, youth clubs, and child and youth culture. Collaboration within the department focuses on the common mission of targeting underrepresented groups and ensuring geographical spread. Collaboration with the Child and Education Department occurs, among other things, through cultural activities during school hours, El Sistema, and open activities at after-school centers.

Job Responsibilities

As a dance teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and developing dance education. The group instruction primarily targets children and young people, although other target groups may also be included.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Planning and conducting dance education.
• Adapting instruction based on participants' age and prerequisites.
• Participating in performances, showcases, and other events.
• Collaborating with colleagues, students, guardians, and external actors.
• Contributing to the development and quality work of the activity.
• Teaching during school hours within the "Culture in School" program may also be included.

The Dance Pool, part of Vänersborg Music and Culture School, teaches children and young people in voluntary activities, compulsory comprehensive school, upper secondary school, and adapted comprehensive school, as well as in various dance assignments such as Creative School, Dance for Health, and other cultural projects in other municipalities in the Fyrbodal region.

Working hours vary and are scheduled during both daytime and evening hours, as well as some weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have solid competence in dance and the ability to adapt teaching to the participants' age, level, and prerequisites. You have high pedagogical skills, a strong commitment to the development of children and young people, and an artistic drive that contributes to creating joyful and developmental learning environments.

We prefer that you have a university education in dance pedagogy or another education that the employer considers equivalent. A teaching degree is meritorious, as is experience working with children and young people with disabilities or mental health issues.

You are proactive, independent, and responsible, while also being easy to collaborate with colleagues and other actors. You are curious about collaboration and have a creative approach to how the activity can reach different target groups.

As a person, you are flexible, confident in your professional role, and have the ability to build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.
