Families from all over Sweden, the Nordic countries, and Iceland come to Ronald McDonald House in Gothenburg when a child needs specialized care at Queen Silvia Children's Hospital. Our House is located just a short walk from the Children's Hospital. During the treatment period at the hospital, the entire family, and sometimes even the sick child, can stay at the House. They go up to the children's hospital for medical treatments and check-ups, then go down to the House – the "home" that many of our guests call it – to cook dinner, socialize, and sleep. This makes daily life possible for all family members, allowing them to maintain their own routines in a homely yet safe environment, within walking distance of the hospital. Job Description

Since this is a needs-based employment, you must have another primary occupation of at least 50%, such as studies, running your own business, or another employment. If you do and are looking for a great side job, read on! Working as a host/hostess at the House involves welcoming families, greeting them, and giving them a tour. You will also perform light cleaning duties in common areas, prepare family rooms before arrival, and inspect rooms before they leave to ensure everything is in order. You are there to support the families and make their daily lives easier. You create the most pleasant environment possible for them, and your contribution makes a difference. Some administrative tasks are also included. You will be part of a wonderful team that goes the extra mile for the House and the families. Working hours are varied and agreed upon with other staff at the House according to a rotating schedule. The shifts are primarily evening/night, but there are also opportunities to work during the day on weekends and during the summer. Working hours on weekdays for evening/night are scheduled from 19:45 – 08:00, Friday 16:45–08:00, and Saturday/Sunday 18:45–08:00. The work is performed at the house with sleeping on-call duty. Start date: Immediately or as agreed.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high level of service, are warm-hearted, care about your surroundings, and have a great interest in people. It is important that you are good at building trust and have the ability to separate work life and private life. Fluent Swedish and English in both speech and writing is a requirement. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
