Do you want to work with physical planning in an organization where you can follow urban development issues from early ideas to implementation? Vara Municipality is now looking for a Planning Architect/Physical Planner for the Planning and Growth Unit within the Society Sector.
The Planning and Growth Unit is responsible for the municipality's work with physical planning, land and development issues, maps and GIS, business development, strategic sustainability work, and urban planning within areas such as design, landscape, infrastructure, and public transport. The unit also plays an important role in the municipality's overall development work.
Here you have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues, politicians, residents, and external actors.
Your role
As a Planning Architect/Physical Planner, you primarily work with detailed planning, but also with other tasks within physical planning depending on the operations needs and your experience.
The role involves that you:
- Work with detailed planning in close collaboration primarily with colleagues within planning, land and development, building permits, environment, street/park, and water and sewage.
- Produce detailed plans, planning programs, planning materials, and work with design issues in early stages.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, politicians, developers, and citizens and drive dialogue in different stages of the planning process.
- Work together with the Swedish Transport Administration, the County Administrative Board, and other public actors on issues related to planning and implementation.
- Become part of a cross-sectoral working method where planning, technology, and implementation are connected from vision and plan to finished environment.
The role involves a variation of tasks and close collaboration with other parts of the urban development process. There are good opportunities to contribute to both strategic and operational issues within physical planning.
Your knowledge and experience
We are looking for you who have experience working with physical planning and who can relatively quickly take responsibility for your own planning assignments. You have the ability to see the big picture in urban development and can switch between analysis, dialogue, and implementation.
You have:
- A university degree with a focus on physical planning or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code.
- Ability to work in a CAD/GIS environment and to visualize and analyze planning materials.
- Ability to connect visionary perspectives with concrete solutions regarding detailed planning.
- Curiosity about new ways of working and courage to try new things.
- The will and ability to collaborate with external actors such as the Swedish Transport Administration, the County Administrative Board, and developers.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience with detailed planning work according to the Planning and Building Act.
- Experience of project management or work in early stages of urban development projects.
- Experience of working with digital detailed plans and GIS-based planning materials.
Who are you?
To succeed in the role, you need to be able to work independently and drive your assignments forward. You have good collaboration skills, are structured, and can switch between strategic perspectives and practical solutions.
You thrive in an operation where tasks vary and where it is sometimes required to support areas outside your main area of responsibility.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
Your future workplace
The Planning and Growth Unit is part of the Society Sector. Here there are short decision-making paths, close collaboration between different competencies, and good opportunities to influence both working methods and development. The work group is characterized by engagement, lack of hierarchy, and a shared responsibility to drive issues forward.
