Music Teacher for Secondary School (Years 7–9)

Job Description

As a music teacher, you will instruct students in years 7–9 and be responsible for planning, implementing, following up on, and assessing music education. You will create a safe, inspiring, and creative learning environment where students can develop their musical knowledge, listening skills, creativity, and ability to express themselves through singing, instrumental playing, rhythm, movement, and ensemble work. In your role, you will follow the national curriculum as well as the Waldorf school's working plan, A Path to Freedom.

A fundamental principle of Waldorf pedagogy is teacher-led instruction, where the subject is brought to life through artistic, practical, and experiential methods. In music education, this means students encounter music through their own creation, joint music-making, music history, ear training, rhythmics, and reflection. Digital tools are available, but are used restrictively, consciously, and purposefully.

Experience and Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you if you are a certified teacher with qualifications in music for the later years of compulsory school. A Waldorf teacher certification, experience with Waldorf pedagogy, or a clear interest in the Waldorf school approach is considered an asset. Other pedagogical education and experience in music instruction, choir, ensemble, stage work, or music creation may also be of interest. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and the willingness to practice Waldorf pedagogy.

You are communicative, confident in your role as a teacher, and have an easy time building trusting relationships with young people. You can lead groups in practical and creative work and have the ability to adapt teaching so that students with different experiences, prerequisites, and modes of expression have the opportunity to develop. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues, the student health team, and school leadership, and contribute to the school's joint cultural and cross-curricular work.

As a music teacher, you have clear pedagogical leadership and a good ability to plan and organize teaching, concerts, performances, and other musical contexts. You enjoy working creatively and see the importance of music for students' education, interaction, and personal development. We value that you can inspire students to both musical depth and joy in joint music-making.

Do you want to be part of our teaching staff consisting of approximately 50 dedicated employees? If you also have a curiosity and desire to develop as a Waldorf teacher, together with colleagues and students, we can offer an inspiring and serious collaboration with good opportunities for collegial learning and further education within Waldorf pedagogy.

If this sounds interesting, we may be the right place for you. Welcome with your application!
