Job Description
Do you want to lead the financial work in a department where every decision contributes to a stronger and more inclusive Gothenburg? We are looking for a driven Finance Manager who wants to combine strategic leadership with an important societal mission. Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute to sustainable and efficient financial management, influence, develop, and create long-term conditions for interventions that help people move forward into education, work, and self-sufficiency. The department has approximately 350 employees and a turnover of SEK 1,150 million (budget 2026).
A large part of the department's operations are procured through external suppliers or within the municipality. The rapid pace of change in procurement, such as price adjustments and volume changes, characterizes the entire operation's way of working, which differs significantly in its budgeting and forecasting work compared to, for example, labor-intensive operations.
We are now looking for a Finance Manager who wants to take overall responsibility for budgeting, follow-up, and financial analysis in a department where development, collaboration, and public benefit are in focus. Here, you will have the opportunity to combine strategic work with close operational support and contribute to long-term sustainable decisions. In the role, you lead, coordinate, and develop the work with budget, forecast, and follow-up. You ensure that financial decision-making materials are of high quality and provide clear support to management and operations.
As Finance Manager, you are part of the department's management group and are responsible for financial reporting to the department management and the Department Director. The role includes personnel and operational responsibility for the 10 employees in the finance unit, and you are also part of the division's management group consisting of two unit managers and a division manager. Here, you have operational and overarching responsibility covering accounting, reporting, and financial control.
You lead improvement work and ensure that your leadership focuses on motivating your employees as central prerequisites for the operation's results. We are looking for an present and secure leader who is unpretentious and available in the daily work for the employees.
Qualifications
You who apply have a bachelor's degree in economics or another education that the employer considers equivalent. Furthermore, you have several years of documented experience in management roles within the economic field with responsibility for operations, personnel, working environment, and economy. Additionally, you are accustomed to working with economic issues at a strategic level. You have good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you have experience of financial work within a politically governed organization as well as experience of systematic working environment and stakeholder collaboration. Experience from the labor market and education sector and experience of leading change and development work as well as creating participation in change processes are also meritorious.
As a person, you can see your work as part of a larger context. You are motivated by defining and setting goals and have the ability to transform these into concrete action. You can identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose and implement sustainable solutions based on this.
As a leader, you have good collaboration skills by listening, communicating, and showing respect. You understand the common mission and work actively to create good relationships both within your own operation and with other parts of the organization. You work systematically and use time efficiently.
