On behalf of our client, we are now looking for an experienced interim department head for a mission-critical assignment within the public sector.

- Location: Borås
- Start: August 24, 2026
- Assignment duration: Until January 31, 2027
- Scope: Approximately 900 hours
- Work format: Primarily on-site. After an initial period, there is an opportunity for remote work of up to approximately 40 percent, depending on the operational needs.
About the assignment
Our client is facing a transition period and is looking for an interim leader who can ensure stability, quality, and delivery while the organization continues its development journey.
As a department head, you will have overall responsibility for an operation with approximately 60 employees and around 250 external experts. You have personnel responsibility for four unit managers as well as staff functions and are part of the organization's management group.
The assignment involves leading the operation forward with a focus on development, change management, and modernization. An important part of the role is to contribute to the organization's continued work within digitalization and AI and to translate opportunities into concrete operational improvements.
Areas of responsibility
- Lead and develop the operation towards set goals
- Ensure quality, efficiency, and delivery capability
- Lead and develop subordinate managers
- Drive change and development initiatives
- Responsible for operational planning, follow-up, and budget work
- Actively contribute to the management group's strategic work
- Drive development within digitalization and AI
We are looking for you who
- Have several years of experience from senior management roles with personnel, operational, and budget responsibility
- Have documented experience in leading other managers
- Have experience in change management and operational development
- Are accustomed to making decisions, creating direction, and implementing change
- Have a strategic interest in digitalization and AI as well as experience in translating new opportunities into the operation
- Have a relevant higher education or university degree. Relevant educational background can be, for example, economics, political science, behavioral science, law, or other education considered relevant in combination with experience.
- Experience from the public sector is meritorious, but we also welcome candidates from private and municipal operations.

You are proactive, confident in making decisions, and have the ability to create trust in the organization.
