We are now looking for a Network Technician for Umeå Municipality DoIT – help us build a smarter and safer city!
Are you interested in working with network issues in a large and complex operational environment within a socially critical business? Do you want to ensure stable and secure IT infrastructure for thousands of users – every day? We are now looking for another IT infrastructure specialist with a focus on networks for our team Network & Telephony.
Umeå Municipality's internal network spans a large geographical area and covers all municipal operations as well as several municipal companies. We are located at approximately 500 addresses, responsible for around 1,000 switches and 3,000 wireless access points that together handle tens of thousands of connections – and the network continues to grow. Umeå Municipality IT is also the host municipality in regional IT cooperation, where we, among other things, are responsible for telephony and data center operations for several municipalities in Västerbotten.
Your responsibilities
You work with the operation, development, and troubleshooting of our fixed and wireless networks. The role involves both operational work and participation in projects and system implementations where network expertise is crucial. You will become part of an experienced team where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and quality are in focus.
You will also work with the integration of new solutions in larger operational environments, as well as contribute to the development and improvement of working methods, routines, and documentation. The role involves close collaboration with other IT specialists and operations, as well as providing support and advice to colleagues and other functions.
The role also includes on-call duties according to a schedule, which is an important part of ensuring high availability in our socially critical IT services. Heavy lifting may occur in the work.
