Who are we?

The operations in Vilhelmina Municipality are at the forefront regarding our digital environments. All digital units are managed in rolling lifecycles; we have good registry maintenance and systems with API integration that communicate seamlessly with each other. Powerful networks with access points and enterprise-level infrastructure, centrally managed. The operations are continuously updated with modern equipment, and there is a drive among employees to develop their digital working methods. The operations continuously explore the area of remote work and its possibilities.

Our core environment and system map are based on Microsoft concepts, and the client environment is built exclusively on Windows-based personal computers. We have approximately 3,000 users in various categories, and in our VMware environment, 150 support systems are managed. In the infrastructure we manage, there are approximately 450 active switches/routers.

Who are you?

You are someone who loves connecting people – just as much as you love connecting switches, access points, and computers. You enjoy problem-solving; otherwise, this ad would hardly have attracted you. You find it easy to work both in teams and alone. You are a person who experiences daily joy when an access point with a red status suddenly blinks green, or when you set up a new server in our virtualization for a specific operation. You can keep your head cool when seven stressed users call for help.

You need a Category B driver's license, among other things, to be able to visit our properties and customers in the mountain valleys. We therefore assume that you are confident in winter driving conditions – and we suspect that you thrived when you drove on the ice track.

We place great importance on your communication skills. You are both theoretically driven and practically minded. Being receptive, perceiving, and responding to others' needs is crucial for success in the role.

You are unpretentious – the result and customer satisfaction are more important than your own effort. You also have no problem with security clearance, as you are often found in classified facilities and operations.

What will you do?

You will make a concrete difference in users' digital daily lives. As our saving IT superhero, you are part of the IT unit of the Municipal Executive Board. You work proactively, event-based, and on behalf of the operations' contact persons, with various support systems through our case management system, always in line with the municipality's IT strategy and security instructions.

You will have access to approximately 3,000 digital devices, mobiles, switches/routers, access points, and surely some forgotten laptop from the 90s, and together with colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that everything lives, thrives, and has a healthy lifecycle.

You will sometimes evaluate new technology and new smart working methods based on AI. Every small service that comes to your attention should either be eliminated or integrated into our environments based on our guidelines. Shadow IT is, as known, something many operations struggle with, but our attitude is that we break new ground through curious exploration. When doing so, you may need someone to hold your hand – and that is you. You ensure with the managers and system administrators that the curious exploration that turns out well transitions into long-term, documented management with maximum availability for users.

It is very likely that you will be part of our emergency response group and outside office hours monitor that the critical systems run as they should and that customers receive the support they need.

Your office is located together with other IT technicians in the municipal building (from where you get daily exercise in the form of ongoing troubleshooting) and in the service bus, to which you will have a special and close relationship.

Conditions

Probation period with 100% employment rate, with start in August 2026 or earlier by agreement.

About Vilhelmina

Vilhelmina can be described as a 5-minute society. It may be a bit far from larger cities, but once you are on site, most things are within reach. Within five minutes, in the urban areas of Vilhelmina, Saxnäs, and Dikanäs, where we have municipal operations, you can pick up children from preschool, go to work, hit the gym after work, or take your skis/running shoes on the lighted tracks, and eat at one of the town's cafes and restaurants. In the mountains, there are facilities that are open both during tourist seasons and year-round, as well as proximity to some of the larger ski slopes in Kittelfjäll and Klimpfjäll.
