The unit is a governing and supporting function that works within several different areas, such as information security, physical security, security protection, and total defense. It can be said that the unit focuses heavily on supporting management, managers, and employees with strategies, guidelines, routines, training, and advice.
Currently, the unit consists of 15 people led by our Security Director. You will work closely and together with existing resources for information security/data protection work. You will have good opportunities for collaboration with our IT organization, which has a great understanding of the need for good information security/IT security. To get started in the role and get to know the operations, an individual introduction program is offered, planned based on your specific background. Information security is a field in constant development; we view positively if you have an interest and willingness for further education in the area.
The Swedish Maritime Administration's information security work is highly prioritized. As an authority with requirements according to the Cyber Security Act and as an operator with security-sensitive operations (requirements for security protection), our information security work becomes both challenging and interesting. Your experience and competence are therefore important for the continued work of strengthening and developing the Swedish Maritime Administration's information security. Your workplace is located in Norrköping. Business travel may occur.
Responsibilities
As Chief Information Security Officer, your focus is to innovate, further develop, and strengthen information security at the Swedish Maritime Administration, as well as design information security management systems, which should contribute to maintaining the Administration's various services and deliveries. A major asset that we particularly want to highlight is the excellent cooperation between information security and IT and IT security. You work to make the authority information secure and ensure compliance. There are additional resources for information security work within the unit.
In the role, you will:
- Lead the Swedish Maritime Administration's information security work.
- Be responsible for the development and compliance of information security management systems.
- Coordinate the unit's resources for information security work.
- Lead and develop the Swedish Maritime Administration's cyber security forum.
- Develop governing and supporting documents in the area.
- Lead the handling of information security incidents.
- Provide advice and support to operations and the IT organization in matters concerning information security.
- Identify, initiate, lead, and actively participate in initiatives to improve security.
- Act as support and requirement setter towards operations and the IT organization regarding information security. Also requirement setting towards external suppliers.
- Work with training and increase understanding/knowledge in the area and represent the unit in internal and external forums.
You report to the Security Director and, if necessary, you are also the spokesperson for the Swedish Maritime Administration's management. Your work is anchored and conducted in close cooperation with operations, the IT organization, and relevant functions.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have:
- At least 3 years of experience working with information security, data protection, cyber security, or IT security.
- Worked with information security in a leading position or alternatively as a consultant within an audit firm towards information security and cyber risks.
- Good understanding and experience of information security management systems.
- Actively driven change projects within the information security area.
- University/college education that we assess to be relevant.
- Good knowledge of both Swedish and English is a requirement.
It is meritorious if you can show certifications in information security such as CISM, CISA, CRISC, CISSP. Experience with information security audits such as the Cyber Security Check or similar instruments is also meritorious.

How and when?
This recruitment is for a permanent position expected to be filled as soon as possible.
The Swedish Maritime Administration may apply a six-month probationary period.
The position may involve wartime assignment at the Swedish Maritime Administration.
Individual salary setting applies for this position.
The position may require Swedish citizenship. Security screening with register check may be conducted before an employment offer is made.
