Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees meet with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools around the municipality every day. Every student should be able to leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.

Your new workplace

Sundsvall Culture School is part of the Child and Education Administration and offers fee-free education in music, visual arts, dance, drama/theater, circus, film, and animation. The activity is an important part of the municipality's work to strengthen children's and young people's right to culture, creative creation, and personal development. Approximately 45-50 employees, all with higher pedagogical education, work at the Culture School. The teaching takes place both as a voluntary elective activity and on assignment during the day at schools around the municipality and in the evenings at the Culture School's premises in central Sundsvall. The Culture School is a dynamic and development-oriented workplace that strives to give children and young people good opportunities for cultural learning.

How you contribute in the role of Dance Teacher

As a dance teacher at the Culture School, you will be responsible for teaching students of different ages, at different levels, and in different styles. The teaching is conducted in the afternoons and evenings.

The position includes:

• Planning, organizing, and conducting dance lessons
• Participating in outward-facing activities with your dance groups
• Collaborating in subject groups together with dance teacher colleagues

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

• An artistic university education in dance with a pedagogical orientation, or equivalent competence assessed by the employer as equivalent.
• Experience of having taught in at least one field of dance for children and young people, such as ballet, jazz dance, modern/contemporary, and various street styles.
• Ability to inspire and adapt teaching based on students' different needs and prerequisites.
• A flexible and development-oriented working method with the ability to develop teaching and pedagogical methods based on the Culture School of the future.
• Experience of working within Culture School and primary school.
• Experience of cross-disciplinary collaborations.
• Good ability to work independently, structured, and in projects together with others, with experience in following up and evaluating pedagogical work.
• Good digital competence and experience in using digital tools in teaching.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience of working within adapted school.
• Taught in several fields such as various street styles, jazz dance, ballet, modern/contemporary dance.

We are looking for a teacher who is clear in their leadership and has a good ability to create structure, context, and security in teaching. You easily build trusting relationships with both students and colleagues, and can adapt teaching based on the individual's and group's needs. You see diversity as a resource and work inclusively and developmentally. A B driver's license is required for the position.
