Strategic Business Developer with a focus on Water and Wastewater Economics

We are now looking for a Strategic Business Developer with a focus on Water and Wastewater (VA) Economics for our water and wastewater operations.

The water and wastewater department is responsible for one of society's most important functions – delivering clean drinking water and managing wastewater in a sustainable, safe, and cost-effective manner. We are approximately 50 employees working with operations, maintenance, planning, projects, and development.

You will join a department with high ambitions, currently in several exciting development phases that also require changes in our working methods. We are building a new wastewater treatment plant scheduled to be completed in 2028, while simultaneously undertaking other major investments in the municipality's water and wastewater infrastructure.

In this role, you will hold a key position in the department's management group and serve as a close support to the Head of Water and Wastewater. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, strengthen financial control, and contribute to ensuring that investments are carried out with good economic oversight and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

As a Strategic Business Developer with a focus on Water and Wastewater Economics, you are responsible for developing the department's financial planning and control, investment monitoring, and a sustainable water and wastewater tariff strategy.

You will work closely with the Head of Water and Wastewater, the management group, and the controller, as well as other roles. You will be responsible for analyses, decision support materials, and strategic economic development issues that strengthen the department's ability to make well-founded decisions.

In this role, you will, among other things:

• Develop the department's financial control, monitoring, and analysis.
• Analyze costs, revenues, investments, and financing.
• Contribute to the development of a long-term sustainable water and wastewater tariff strategy.
• Prepare decision support materials for major investments and strategic choices.
• Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), benchmarking, and economic analyses.
• Identify efficiency improvements and development opportunities from an economic and operational perspective.
• Lead or participate in development projects within control, monitoring, and analysis.

The role involves many contact points and close collaboration with managers, planners, economists, and other key functions within the department.

Qualifications

You are analytical and curious, but also action-oriented. You thrive in a role where you can combine numbers, strategy, and business development to create real value. You have the ability to switch between details and the big picture and enjoy driving issues from idea to result.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

• An academic degree in economics, engineering, urban planning, or another area deemed relevant by the employer.
• Experience in qualified work within financial control, business development, analysis, or strategic development.
• The ability to produce decision support materials and translate analyses into concrete improvements.
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Experience working with digital tools and new technical opportunities as support for analysis, monitoring, and development.

It is meritorious if you have experience from water and wastewater operations, other technical or capital-intensive operations, investment control, or work in a politically governed organization.
