Our Operations

The Maternal and Child Health Care Psychologists are located within the Child Specialist Clinics in the county. These are part of the Section for Children's Care and Health at Akademiska Barnsjukhuset (University Hospital) in Region Uppsala. The section includes, in addition to the Child Specialist Clinics, the Child Protection Team and the Central Child Health Care. There are several cross-professional teams consisting of psychologists, doctors, physiotherapists, pediatric nurses, and assistant nurses. The Child Specialist Clinics in the county are located in Uppsala, Knivsta, Tierp, Östhammar, and Enköping.

Your Role

The Maternal and Child Health Care Psychologists are tasked with working in a health-promoting, preventive, and therapeutic manner with expectant parents, new parents, and families with children aged 0–5 years. We provide counseling, psychological treatment at care level 1, targeted parental support, group interventions, developmental assessments, and action planning. The role also includes consulting midwives within Maternal Health Care (MHV) and Child Health Care (BHV) nurses. Additionally, it involves collaborating with healthcare partners and authorities, conducting method development, holding training sessions, and supervising students. As a new employee, you will receive a mentor, and supervision is of course provided. We have clinics throughout the county that we staff together.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed psychologist. It is meritorious if you have good experience in this area of operations or equivalent.

A extract from the suspicion and criminal record register will be taken prior to appointment.

Your Competence

You should have a good ability to work independently as well as communicate and collaborate with different people and professions. It is also important that you can establish good relationships with our patients and their relatives. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
