Surgical and Urological Operations Area
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
Are you a nursing assistant interested in highly specialized surgical care? Do you want to work on a ward with varied tasks and the opportunity to try more than just ward work? Then workplace 70E is for you!
Ward 70E is a vascular and acute surgical care unit providing both emergency and planned care. We provide highly specialized vascular surgical care and operate on, among other things, complex aortic aneurysms (bulges in the aorta). Acute surgical patients arrive at the ward from the emergency department around the clock with mixed diagnoses and varying lengths of stay, meaning no two days are alike. On the ward, nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors work in teams with several other professional groups, all focused on the patient.
Your Role
As a nursing assistant, you are responsible for the patient's basic care, pre- and post-operative care, wound dressings, catheter and drainage care, monitoring of vital parameters, and mobilization of patients, etc. It is important that you are comfortable with work that can be physically demanding at times, for example during patient transfers and handling of hospital beds. The pace of work varies and the work is diverse, which will give you broad competence and good knowledge within surgical nursing. The ward has good routines and good structure.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant with a professional certificate – preferably with experience in hospital care. If you have experience with the medical record system Cosmic, we see this as an advantage.
Your Competencies
We value qualities such as curiosity, commitment, willingness to learn new things, teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and flexibility. You work according to a clear process, organize and plan your work well, complete what you start, and meet deadlines. You are confident even in uncertain situations, stand up for your opinions, have the courage to speak up, and the ability to separate facts from personal matters. Furthermore, you take active initiative in social situations, are good at building new relationships, and collaborate without hierarchy, focusing on the common goal. You are also empathetic, listen, understand, and show consideration, while being flexible and finding win-win solutions in collaboration with others.
You have good knowledge of Swedish and can express yourself clearly in both speech and writing, as the work involves close contact with patients, relatives, and colleagues. You always put the patient first and are responsible and motivated in your work. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
