Nurse for Oncological Treatment Ward – Akademiska Sjukhuset
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic moments, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Do you want meaningful work where you make a real difference in people's lives? We are now looking for a nurse for our oncological treatment ward – a workplace with high competence, good camaraderie, and a strong patient focus.
Our Operations
The Business Area for Blood and Tumor Diseases conducts cutting-edge, highly specialized cancer care. We operate extensively in inpatient care, day care, outpatient care, and clinical research, with close collaboration between multiple professions. The organization includes the sections of oncology (including radiotherapy), hematology, oncological endocrinology, as well as a research and development unit. The highly specialized cancer care at Akademiska Sjukhuset is among the best in the country and is accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Center according to OECI criteria.
We are now looking for a nurse to strengthen our team at the oncological treatment ward. Working hours are during the day, Monday to Friday. Since some patients undergo treatment for several years, we strive to ensure continuity for the patients, and each nurse therefore has their own schedule. Your primary task is to administer cytostatic treatment, immunotherapy, and antibodies to our patients. You also have overall responsibility for coordinating care with other professions such as dietitians and social workers, etc.
What We Offer
- Convenient working hours (Monday–Friday)
- A structured introduction with 4 weeks of onboarding
- Opportunities for competence development via: Cytostatic Driver's License and the Cancer Care Academy (CVA)
- A work group with long experience and a strong team spirit – here we support each other and share knowledge in everyday life
Of course, you are also covered by our general Benefits at Region Uppsala (Read more about benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/jobb-och-utbildning/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/)).
Your Role
On the treatment ward, you will have your own schedule with planned patients. As a nurse, you will be responsible for assessing lab results and side effects, and subsequently ordering and administering treatment to the patient. A large part of the work also involves informing patients and relatives about the treatment and potential side effects.
Examples of tasks:
- Administer intravenous oncological treatment such as cytostatics, antibodies, and immunotherapy
- Plan and book patients' treatment and care
- Provide telephone advice and support to patients and relatives
We are looking for you who
- Are a licensed nurse
- Are positive, engaged, and eager to learn more
- Have good empathy and can put yourself in the patient's life situation
- Are meticulous, responsible, and strive to do your best
- Enjoy working both independently and in a team
- Have good pedagogical skills
Meritorious:
- Experience from oncology and cytostatic treatment
We place great emphasis on personal suitability, so if this sounds like you, the oncological treatment ward could be your future workplace!
