We are looking for a dedicated legal advisor to join our Edudata.io team. We are recruiting for a specific position, but the role can be adapted to your background – whether you are already an experienced data protection specialist who has acted as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) with practical experience in DPIAs, or a lawyer at the beginning of your career with a strong drive to develop into a top-class data protection expert. In this role at Edudata.io, you will support Swedish education providers, such as municipalities, in their data protection obligations and help ensure student privacy in digital learning environments.

What is Edudata.io?

Edudata.io is the leading platform for third-party risk designed specifically for the education sector, developed by the Finnish company Cloudpoint Oy. Our service, built on a "Human-AI-Human" philosophy, combines advanced, specialized AI with human legal expertise to analyze digital tools for schools. We provide a comprehensive, pre-evaluated database of over 5,000 educational applications, helping municipalities and other education providers effectively manage compliance with GDPR, the AI Act, and NIS2. Instead of just offering a generic tool, Edudata.io provides actionable mitigation measures and creates transparency for students and parents. Your daily work will be central to maintaining and expanding these crucial risk assessments. We collaborate with Online Partner, and together we solve the digital ecosystem for the education industry.

What are your responsibilities?

Depending on your level of experience, your daily responsibilities will range from assisting to independently leading the following areas:

Risk assessment of digital tools: You will create risk assessments for digital platforms and services used in teaching based on data protection, artificial intelligence, and information security. You ensure that educational applications comply with national and international legislation (especially GDPR). This includes analyzing privacy policies and contracts for platforms and services.

Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA): It is the education provider's responsibility to conduct comprehensive DPIAs for high-risk environments within education. Your task is to assist them in designing these DPIAs.

Legal support: You will help our customers with everyday dilemmas and answer data protection-related questions. You will participate in customer meetings and webinars.

Legal monitoring: You will monitor and analyze national and international developments, legislation, and case law related to privacy, data protection, and artificial intelligence.

Process development: You will participate in international meetings with the legal team and be involved in developing the legal department's operations together with the team.

Other legal tasks: Opportunity to participate in drafting contracts, negotiations, and conducting various legal investigations both at Online Partner and Edudata.io.

What we expect from you:

For the experienced: You already have substantial practical experience in data protection. You may have worked as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and have concrete experience in performing or participating in Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).

For the junior lawyer: A law degree (Master of Laws) and a strong desire to learn and develop into a professional data protection expert.

A genuine interest in digital development and its legal implications, particularly regarding privacy, data protection, and artificial intelligence.

Fluent ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

An analytical, proactive, and independent working style, as well as good collaboration skills.

The ability to quickly learn and absorb new information.

An understanding of the education and public sectors is considered an asset.
