Welcome to Vadstena Health Centre and Marieberg Health Centre, which have been a joint operational area since April 2025. This change aims to create a robust operation equipped to handle the demographic challenges we face in the future.

Together, the operations currently serve approximately 16,000 registered patients and have a staff of around 65 employees.

This vacancy is primarily aimed at Vadstena Health Centre, but the work may be located within the joint organization.

What we offer

Primary Care Centre Östergötland consists of 33 region-run health centres, Vårdcentrum Finspång, the Child Health Care Unit, evening and weekend emergency clinics, and the General Medicine Education Centre. We provide a broad range of primary care services, offering healthcare to everyone throughout their lives; from newborns, children, and adolescents to adults, the elderly, and patients in the terminal phase of life.

We are a forward-looking organization with a strong focus on good working environment, development, and health. We actively work to create conditions for sustainable working life while maintaining a development-inspired approach to meet future challenges in primary care. Here, you will find excellent opportunities for career development, whether you wish to become a manager, specialize further, or pursue research.

Job Description

We are looking for someone interested in driving and developing the work at the health centre together with us, utilizing new digital technology, and involving patients based on a person-centred approach.

This is a position where you, together with district physicians and doctors at various stages of their training in both Marieberg and Vadstena, will help create the new joint organization.

We aim to work with close care and drive collaborations with other actors to create patient-proximate healthcare.

A medical director is employed who, together with the medical group, works to create a good working environment, considering both group and individual perspectives. We are constantly finding new ways to ensure patient safety and promote teamwork with all professional categories. Currently, there are permanent district physicians at both health centres, as well as six ST (specialty training) doctors and licensed doctors/UL doctors.

We offer a good work climate with professional employees working in well-functioning teams. We believe you will appreciate the ability to switch between the advantages of a small health centre, such as short decision-making paths and close collaboration with all staff, and the larger Health Centre in Motala, which also houses an educational clinic. We value your development and competence and therefore offer continuous further education.

Physicians at the health centre also participate in primary and backup duty assignments for the western part of the county during duty hours.

About you

The requirement for the position is that you are a specialist in general medicine or another specialist in a related specialty, such as geriatrics or internal medicine, with an interest in general medicine that the employer deems equivalent. You must have a Swedish medical license (to be attached to the application) and Swedish language skills equivalent to level Swedish C1. You should have good communication skills with patients, colleagues, and other operations. Experience in primary care is an advantage.

Application and Employment

This is a permanent position at 100%, but if there are requests for a different percentage distribution, this can be discussed. The application must include a fully completed merit summary for physicians, which you can find here. This must be verified. Do not forget to attach a copy of your degree certificate or license.

We work with ongoing selection, so please submit your application as soon as possible. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.

Before employment in a patient-proximate role within Östergötland County, you will be asked to fill out a health declaration.

We look forward to receiving your application! If you need help registering in the system, please contact Customer Service Support at 010-103 60 00 during office hours.

To staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies, and to you who are a salesperson:

We kindly but firmly decline direct contact from staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies as well as other external actors and sellers of additional job advertisements. Östergötland County has contracted agreements.
