The Waterway Group belongs to the Business Area Locks and Canals, which is part of the Infrastructure Department at the Swedish Transport Administration (Sjöfartsverket). The Business Area Locks and Canals is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the waterway between Gothenburg and Lake Vänern. The operations include, among other things, locks, bridges, waterways, workboats, depots, and technical facilities along the Göta River, Säffle Lock and Canal, Södertälje Lock and Canal, as well as the Falsterbo Canal and reef protection structures.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Production Manager responsible for workforce leadership, planning, and coordination within the waterway operations in Trollhättan. As Production Manager, you are responsible for the daily leadership of the Waterway Group in Trollhättan, which consists of six employees, a storekeeper in Trollhättan, and a canal technician in Säffle. The group is seafaring and works operationally with the operation, maintenance, and development of waterways, facilities, and maritime functions within the operational area. The Production Manager reports to the Maintenance Manager.

The role involves broad responsibility where you lead and plan operations with a focus on safety, accessibility, working environment, and efficient resource utilization. Travel within the operational area and on-call duty during the winter season are included.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and distribute daily work within the Waterway Group
  • Responsible for personnel planning, working environment, and resource management
  • Responsible for planning operational readiness and winter organization
  • Plan, coordinate, and follow up on operation and maintenance activities within waterway operations
  • Coordinate contractors and external suppliers
  • Ensure documentation and follow-up in the organization's maintenance system
  • Responsible for chemical handling, including associated permits and follow-up
  • Responsible for issues related to flammable substances
  • Handle and follow up on agreements, authority requirements, and various operational permits
  • Responsible for materials, machinery, and equipment within the assigned area
  • Contribute to the development of working methods, routines, and safety work

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A technical education or equivalent experience
  • Experience in workforce or production management within operations, maintenance, industry, contracting, maritime operations, or other technical operations
  • Experience in operation and maintenance work
  • Good administrative and digital skills
  • Experience working with maintenance systems
  • Valid driver's license (Category B)
  • Experience working with working environment and safety issues

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Seafaring experience or experience working at sea
  • Experience in seafaring operations or workboats
  • Experience working with chemicals, flammable substances, or regulated operations

How and when?

This recruitment is for a permanent position expected to be filled in September.

Interviews are expected to be held during weeks 25–28 and weeks 33–35.

The Swedish Transport Administration may apply a six-month probationary period.

The position may involve war-time placement at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Individual salary setting applies for this position.

The position may require Swedish citizenship. Security clearance with register check may be conducted before an employment offer is made.
