The Department of Community Development has a broad range of operations, including the street/park, water and sewerage, planning and building, property, catering, and facility maintenance units. There is currently exciting development underway in both our municipality and our organization.

The position is located within the Planning and Building unit of the Department of Community Development. The work is governed by the Building Committee, which also serves as the Traffic Committee, with responsibility for physical planning, building permits, and mapping activities.

Responsibilities

As a GIS Engineer, you work throughout the entire community development process – from planning and design to construction, as well as operation and maintenance. You are responsible for the municipality's work in surveying, map production, geodata, and GIS systems. Surveys are conducted using GPS, and you produce new construction maps, base maps for detailed plans, and other mapping materials used in the community development process. Your duties also include administering addresses and apartment registers, updating the base map, and ensuring that the municipality's geodata maintains high quality.

You are also responsible for the municipality's digital mapping tools and serve as a specialist in GIS and geodata. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues within your own organization, as well as with other authorities, municipalities, and external actors, such as construction companies and consultants. You also provide support and training to the municipality's users of GIS systems.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in land surveying technology and GIS, or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have good knowledge of GIS systems and a strong interest in handling, analyzing, and developing geographic information and databases. Experience in municipal operations and/or work within the land surveying field is an advantage.

You have a strong interest in digital tools and community development issues. As a person, you are structured, responsible, and able to plan your work independently. You are proactive, service-oriented, and enjoy collaborating with others. We also value that you have good communication skills and can express yourself clearly in both speech and writing.

The salary for the position is in the range of approximately 38,000–48,000 SEK per month, depending on experience and competence. Individual salary setting applies.
