Do you thrive on variety in your work, problem-solving, and development in your daily routine? Are you passionate about helping people lead a meaningful life by creating opportunities for them to live as independently and actively as possible? Then this is the workplace for you! As some of our colleagues have retired, we are now looking for an occupational therapist to join our team, primarily working in ordinary housing/home care services.
About Us
The Rehabilitation Team in Sala Municipality is a wonderful and ambitious group consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation assistants. We are responsible for rehabilitation efforts throughout the municipality's elderly care services, as well as within the disability support area. We are a relatively large work group divided into smaller units based on operational areas. What unites us all is our strong commitment to ensuring that the municipality's residents receive the best possible care based on their individual needs, goals, and conditions. By sharing ideas, thoughts, and experiences, we constantly seek improvements and see opportunities in the challenges we face. You will be offered a positive and secure work environment with many dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues! We actively work to ensure good and safe care for our patients according to the municipality's values: Simple – Efficient – Citizen-friendly.
Your Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist working in ordinary housing, you will work across the entire municipality, with our office premises at Sala Hospital as your base. You will be part of a team consisting of a physiotherapist, nurse, rehabilitation assistant, and home care staff, and you will be responsible for occupational therapy assessments and interventions for residents who need rehabilitation support in their own homes. You will also collaborate closely with the home care unit manager and coordinator, needs assessment officers, and external actors such as primary healthcare centers and inpatient care. There are great opportunities for knowledge exchange and support when needed, as you have daily contact with your colleagues in the rehabilitation team. Sharing premises with the region's rehabilitation staff at the hospital also facilitates knowledge exchange and eases cooperation during patient discharges from inpatient wards.
Using a person-centered approach, you plan and carry out occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and follow-ups based on the individual's personal goals and conditions. You play a clear and active role in the team regarding preventive, function-preserving, and activity-promoting measures for patients. Together with the unit manager and other colleagues, you are also involved in the quality and development work of the operations. In addition to patient-facing work, your responsibilities include supporting, supervising, and to some extent training nursing staff in methods for preserving function and activity, as well as the handling of assistive devices. It may also be relevant to supervise students from the Occupational Therapy program at Uppsala University.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist, preferably with a couple of years of professional experience. Previous experience within municipal elderly care or home rehabilitation is advantageous, as is having a prescription right for assistive devices in Västmanland. Further education in areas such as geriatrics, dementia diseases, or other areas deemed suitable by the employer is also a plus. You are engaged in your work, enjoy collaborating, have a good attitude towards people, and possess strong communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues, and others. The tasks are varied and of different nature, requiring you to be responsible, structured, flexible, and solution-focused.
What We Offer
We want you to thrive and feel well here, which is why Sala Municipality offers several benefits to its employees. We place great emphasis on providing a good and individually adapted introduction, especially if you are new to the profession.
In addition to friendly colleagues and varied work, you will receive:
- Flexible working hours
- Wellness allowance of 2,000 SEK/year or the option to exchange the allowance for a health check-up
- Opportunity to work remotely for a portion of your time
- Opportunities for professional development during working hours
Other Requirements
A valid B-class driver's license and experience driving are required. You must also be able to cycle.
The work requires good computer skills and the ability to communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
Personal suitability is given great importance.
