Job Responsibilities

As a Specialist Physician in Clinical Pathology, you will primarily hold significant medical responsibility. You will drive development within the laboratory in collaboration with your colleagues and support them in their work and continued professional development. You will also participate in standard clinical pathology tasks such as tissue sectioning, diagnostic analysis of samples, MDK (Medical Doctor Competence Assessment), and, if qualified, cytology. You will report to the Medical Director.

Clinical Pathology within Laboratory Medicine Västmanland is responsible for morphological diagnostics in the Region of Västmanland. Our team consists of eight senior consultants, one specialist, and four resident doctors. The work is divided into subspecializations, with one main area of responsibility and two to three smaller areas where you support your colleagues.

About the Workplace

At Laboratory Medicine, you are welcome to join a department covering the specialties of clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine. We have approximately 200 employees and are located at the four hospitals in Västmanland.

With the patient and our customers in focus, we deliver services to healthcare in the form of sample collection and results, blood components, functional investigations, and care for the deceased. Laboratory Medicine works to provide good and safe care at the right time. Our multidisciplinary team includes biomedical analysts, physicians, cytodiagnosticians, nurses, assistant nurses, molecular biologists, chemists, and laboratory engineers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist training in Clinical Pathology. Experience working as a specialist physician is an advantage.

You are a confident and stable person with good self-awareness. You collaborate and communicate effectively with others. As a physician, you lead and mentor with respect, attentiveness, and positivity. The role requires the courage to act according to your own convictions, the ability to see opportunities in change, and a strong capacity to work independently.

A prerequisite for the position is that you can communicate fluently in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

Terms of Employment

Permanent position. Full-time. Start date by agreement.
