Company Description
Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. The Vattenfall Group employs approximately 21,000 people. For over a hundred years, we have electrified industries, supplied energy to homes, and transformed lives through innovation.
Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant is one of Sweden's largest electricity producers, generating one-sixth of the electricity consumed in Sweden. Nuclear power has very low fossil footprints and is a stable, weather-independent power source. Since 1980, our three production facilities have delivered climate-smart electricity every day, year-round. Approximately 1,200 people work at Forsmark today, and we are part of the Vattenfall Group, which operates on a European labor market offering fantastic development opportunities for employees. Our workplace is beautifully located along the pleasant Roslagen coast.
About the Role
Do you want to contribute to Sweden's electricity supply?
Forsmark Kraftgrupp is now looking for a Process Engineer within the field of reactor safety, with a focus on mechanics/structural integrity/strength.
The Safety Department works to be critical, supportive, and interpretive regarding radiation safety. The department supports the company's CEO on safety matters. The goal is to contribute to Forsmark meeting radiation safety requirements and to be at the forefront of developing safety within the company, both regarding technology and operations.
You will work within the Radiation Safety unit. Our mission is to, together with other units in the Safety Department, drive the development and maintenance of reactor safety, radiation protection, and physical security at Forsmark. This is primarily carried out through independent radiation safety reviews and safety assessments of operational decisions.
About the Role
As a Process Engineer for Radiation Safety, you will handle responsible tasks to secure and develop the plant safety at Forsmark.
You will work with independent radiation safety reviews of safety-related documentation, as well as plant modifications and component replacements, as well as safety-analytical investigations related to mechanical integrity or operational readiness. The work also includes interpreting regulatory requirements, coordinating regulatory cases, and analyzing and evaluating Forsmark's safety work. The role also involves acting as an advisor to the rest of the organization in handling safety-related matters.
You will have ongoing contact with authorities and build a broad network, both within the Vattenfall Group and externally. The work gives you a good overall view of the operations and the safety structure of the facilities.
Requirements
We are looking for you who are a University College Engineer, Civil Engineer, or have equivalent competence, either through other education or relevant work experience. You have thorough knowledge of nuclear power plant construction, operation, and maintenance. You also have experience in mechanical maintenance. Experience working with nuclear power-related issues is a great advantage.
The work requires collaboration, quality, and adherence to procedures. We value qualities such as responsibility, clarity, and flexibility. You thrive when working together with others and are happy to share your knowledge, thereby contributing to the team's development. To succeed in the role, you need good communication skills and must master both Swedish and English in speech and writing.
Additional Information
In addition to helping shape the smart energy society of the future, we offer you a developing and varied job with many contact surfaces. For us at Vattenfall, it is important that work and private life have a good balance; therefore, we offer flexibility in work and the possibility to work from home when needed.
