About Science Center Helsingborg
Science Center Helsingborg, part of Vattenhallen Science Center at Lund University, started in 2020 as a pilot project and is now a permanent operation funded by the university, the City of Helsingborg, and the business community.
The center promotes interest in natural sciences, technology, and sustainable development through research-based and interactive learning environments. It hosts school classes four days a week and offers educational programs for primary schools. Simultaneously, a public exhibition is being developed to eventually welcome the general public.
The organization is in an expansion phase, further developing content, working methods, and collaborations with the university, the public sector, and industry. Today, the team consists of five part-time employees with significant responsibility and a shared focus on strengthening knowledge, curiosity, and hope for the future among children, young people, and the public.

Tasks and Responsibilities
As an engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of science center exhibitions. The position is primarily located at Science Center Helsingborg, with some involvement in work at Vattenhallen in Lund.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility for service and maintenance of the exhibitions at Science Center Helsingborg. Tasks include administering, distributing, and resolving fault reports, as well as planning preventive maintenance work.
- All experiments in exhibitions and school activities undergo significant wear. Repairing and performing preventive maintenance, as well as keeping the workshop and storage areas tidy, are very important tasks from a safety perspective and to offer an attractive environment for our visitors.
- Designing and contributing to the development of new experimental equipment in collaboration with scientific and pedagogical staff. Carpentry, programming, mechanical and electronic design, and purchasing materials are common tasks.
Since Science Center Helsingborg will have opening hours on weekends and events scheduled for evenings, the employment may include some weekend and evening work.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are
- Relevant university education for the position or equivalent work experience.
- Practical experience in technical work such as troubleshooting, maintenance, carpentry, mechanical and electronic design, 3D printing, IT, and/or programming.
- Good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Good ability to organize, collaborate, and communicate.
- Good ability to handle varied tasks while maintaining a high service level.
- Responsible and self-motivated.
Merits for the position are
- Knowledge and experience of design processes and exhibition production.
- Knowledge and experience of facility maintenance.
- Experience in purchasing.
- Experience working in the public sector.
- Knowledge of programming, natural sciences, and technology.
- Interest in children's and young people's learning.
- Experience working at a science center or other educational activities.

The position is permanent with 100% employment, with a start date to be agreed upon.

The workplace is primarily at Science Center Helsingborg, but the position involves close collaboration with staff at Vattenhallen in Lund, so part of the work will be performed there.

The operations are based on staff-intensive activities where student guides meet visitors and inspire young people to further studies. Vattenhallen has over 50,000 visitors per year, including school classes, teachers, companies, and families. They also offer outward-facing activities through the ExperimentExpress and are developing a science center in Helsingborg.
The organization consists of 15 employees and approximately 50 student guides.
