The Education and Job Center offers labor market initiatives for job seekers and individuals receiving social assistance, with the goal of helping more residents of Uppsala achieve long-term self-sufficiency. The mobile team is a new initiative where work-preparatory activities are moved out into the community in collaboration with other operations.
Practical operations offer individualized interventions such as work training and labor market employment in a secure and structured environment. Participants develop skills, language proficiency when needed, self-confidence, and work experience through meaningful tasks in various areas.
The work proceeds step-by-step based on the individual's prerequisites, focusing on work capacity and employability through a structured approach, follow-up, and emphasis on participation and personal goals. Internships are combined with learning and reflection.
Description of Duties
With us, you are a driving force in people's development. As an Employment Counselor in the mobile team, you are a coach, an inspirer, and a reliable point of contact for individuals needing support toward self-sufficiency.
The role combines two areas: you lead participants in practical work tasks in real-world environments and work methodically with coaching, goals, and individual progression. Using a minibus as a base, you lead the team on assignments in various municipal operations.
The operation is under construction - you are part of creating it.
Duties:
- Introduce, instruct, and follow up with participants in practical work tasks.
- Work methodically with coaching, motivational interviewing, and behavioral change.
- Assess work capacity and set individual goals and sub-goals.
- Document attendance, development, and progression, and prepare supporting materials.
- Collaborate with case workers and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of working methods and routines.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have post-secondary education in fields such as behavioral science, social work, social pedagogy, work science, rehabilitation, or other vocational higher education (YH) that the employer deems relevant for the position. To succeed in the job, you need experience working with people in vulnerable situations. The job requires good Swedish language skills (spoken and written) and a valid B-class driver's license.
We prefer that you have training in MI (Motivational Interviewing), SMILE, BIP, or similar. Experience in outreach or mobile work, labor market issues, and/or practical work in service, production, warehouse, workshop, or similar is an advantage. Knowledge of mental health issues or neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD) is also considered a merit.
You take initiative and launch activities that lead job seekers forward in their process toward work or studies. You collaborate well with colleagues, employers, and other stakeholders, building relationships by being attentive, communicative, and solution-focused. You have strong empathy and can put yourself in the participants' different situations and needs, while maintaining a professional attitude.
With your pedagogical insight, you adapt your support and guidance based on the individual's prerequisites, so that information and tools become understandable and usable. You work in a structured manner, plan and organize interventions effectively, and follow up on progression toward set goals.
